For all of you who have downloaded this DLC. Was it worth it for just an extra character?

So you're 'against' it but you also want it for free, huh?

For Once i agree with david. Why do you want it free if you're against it?  It doesn't make any sense...

Okay, maybe this was a bad idea.....

How about this.... What is everyone's opinion on this DLC? Was it worth $10?

If you're curious enough to make this post about it, then it's probably worth 10 bucks to satisfy your curiosity.

Since Bioware gets the same number of DLC sales (unless you can convince Bioware to give away From Ashes for free as a gesture of goodwill) you might just as well buy it yourself. If yo truly care then don't buy the DLC; you can't always have your cake and eat it

Yeah, this was a silly topic. Thank you for all your input.

Yes, it was worth $10.

I can think of a lot of things I spent $10 on in the past and got less enjoyment out of. For example in many bars in Tokyo you can spend $10 on a single beer. While I love beer as much as the next guy, unlike From Ashes it has no replay value. Image IPB

Sure it was. The mission itself isn't particularly noteworthy but Javik is bloody brilliant.

Javik's entertaining.
You get to revisit Eden Prime
You get the particle rifle
And the Prothean Cipher actually comes in handy (a rarity after ME1)

Overall, not a bad DLC

The DLC was ight. It adds a lot to the Thessia mission. I mean, I'd buy it again if I went back to the moment I bought it.

Yes, it allows one to play through Thessia mission without requiring hospitalisation due to slamming one's head against one's desk repeatedly listening to the village idiot Vega deliver exposition on prothean-asari interaction.

I think it's pretty worth it. The mission to retrieve him is short but satisfying enough, and the new weapon and biotic powers are a nice addition, aside from Javik himself.

The DLC gives off strong impression that it's content should have been included in the main game. But, on its own merits, it's very good and worth experiencing, I'm not gonna lie.

Well, there's apparently quite a lot of files pertaining to Javik on the main disc; they're just inaccessible on the vanilla game, so development started pretty early on.

That said, I agree with your other comment. Javik adds quite a lot to the squad, in my opinion, and has a lot to say on various missions. I'd also go so far to say that his final conversation is one of the best of the lot. Of course, the new weapon and biotic powers help.

I think it's worth it, as far as his squad content goes. The mission is fairly short, and I'm not sure when it's a good time to start it or how it fits in the story. You kind of just have to ignore how contrived it is, and enjoy the character (ME3 kind of pushes it with the multiple revealings of "ancient knowledge" that conveniently show up now. The Crucible, Leviathan, and Javik's stasis pod).

Lets put it this way, if you're looking for something new to add to another play through (assuming you've already played the game without him) then I think it's worth it. I've played both ways and enjoyed having him in my party. The extra costumes and weapons are a plus too. It just adds a little extra and I think it's worth it IMHO.

I am on the fence. Javik is a mediocre squad mate. The bonus powers are meh. I personally don't like the new weapon, though others do. Javik does add a great deal of dialogue. The price seems rather steep for as short as the mission is. Knowing what I know now would I buy it again? Um, maybe not. I knew going in I probably wasn't going like it all that much. Unfortunately I was not disappointed. I'd say it is 50-50 proposition on whether it is worth it. Now if it were $7 then it would definitely be worth it.

I would agree with this. If you have played ME3 several times, then this DLC will help freshen up the game.

To be fair to the OP I will give you my honest opinion on that DLC:
the mission to get Javik was lame. But having Javik in the party adds something new. In every mission he has something to tell...for example about Rachni, or how he and Wrex trolled the Salarians in the mission when you have to rescue that female Krogan. He is, at the very least, a really interesting character. So yeah, throughout the game the 10$ seem to be worth it.
