The DLC gives off strong impression that it's content should have been included in the main game.

Well, there's apparently quite a lot of files pertaining to Javik on the main disc; they're just inaccessible on the vanilla game, so development started pretty early on.

You can unlock Javik in the PC version by changing one line of code. The only thing missing is appearently the actual Eden Prime mission, otherwise he functions as normal.

I found the actual mission itself fairly dull but Javik is a great character and the particle rifle is great, though I prefer it on squad-mates than using it myself.

Not really. Javik's ok and has some interesting insights for certain missions, but the mission to recruit him is short and not particularly interesting (you fight Cerberus mooks as usual). Also, Javik represents a couple of nasty retcons:

Javik mentioned that there were a lot of different aspects to each subject-group (I don't really have a better way of putting this) that was part of the prothean empire. So the protheans could be extremely divers for all you know. Also, how Javik looks fits in perfectly with the story of the collectors who
(ME2 spoiler)

used to be protheans after all.

Plus, I don't think it was ever stated that those statues were actual protheans, right?

The collectors were meant to be protheans that were genetically and cybernetically altered beyond recognition. It makes sense that they look completely different to them: the reapers had reshaped them into the image they wanted. As for the statues, it is clear they were meant to be protheans: look at the similarities between them and the visions. Javik was a retcon, plain and simple.

Watching the Brothean tear apart the writers' pet and the sexbot is totally worth it.

Javik is actually a pretty cool character after you get past his "The end of days is coming. You have no chance. Just take as many of them as you can" stuff.

I got it with the CE, but I truly think it was worth it. Javik is just great to have around (especially during the Thessia mission) and it's also great to see bits of Prothean history :)

Still not sure that's a retcon. Javik said that planet was originally occupied by the "Innusannon" (spelling), the previous cycle before them. Those statues could be them.

edit: Err.. wait. Nevermind. Couple of those are from Shepard's visions too.

The writers were unsure what to do with the protheans at the time, so the design was kept vague in ME1, according to the wiki page.

Yes, this dlc is a must have for ME3 fans just for the Prothean companion and lore.

In my opinion it's well worth $10 from a roll playing perspective, I rarely use Javik in most missions, always use him for Thessia.

Not sure I'll ever forgive Bioware for pulling the stunt of ripping him from the main game just to make an extra buck, but that's business I guess, they knew some of us would pay despite griping about it.

From ashes is well worth it, the mission is kinda crappy but Javik is awesome.

Javik is awesome, the mission to free him was pretty much standard side quest material.
Is "From Ashes" is worth the money? I'd say yes.
Was putting a Prothean char in a DLC and not in the main game a good decision? Hell no.

If you want Javik and/or the Protean Particle rifle then it's worth it.

It's mostly about picking up a new crewmember, a Particle rifle and a few war assets.

its worth it. The recruitment mission has some good scenes, and you get a cool new gun and an alt outfit for each squadmate.

But the real reason its worth buying is Javik. He's one of my favourite characters in the trilogy, and he has just as much content as the squadmates in the game.

First of all, Javik was not 'ripped from the main game.' That is complete nonsense.

Secondly, what's present on the disk is his character model, combat animations, and combat barks. Nothing more than what the ME 2 characters get in the Armax Arena. No dialogue. No Eden Prime mission. No cutscenes.

From Ashes was completed after the game was shipped. That's really the end of it.

If DLC 'gives off the impression it should have been in the main game,' that should be taken as a very good thing. Because it means that content is well integrated and high quality.

he is ripped from the main game. how else would he and all his content be released the same day the game came out? how else would all that dialogue been recorded?

and Don't say they did it right after they finished the main game because thats a load of bull my friend

What exactly about the idea of the developers completing From Ashes after the game has shipped confuses you?

Do you any reasoning or evidence to present to me suggesting that it isn't true? Anything more than 'BioWare is stupid lol"?
