There is a difference between "well integrated" and "the game feels incomplete without it"

Do you any reasoning or evidence to present to me suggesting that it isn't true? Anything more than 'BioWare is stupid lol"?

If you believe that all the dialogue in all the different character interactions with Javik were all done within a couple weeks you're mistaken

And why is that?

First of all, Javik was not 'ripped from the main game.' That is complete nonsense.

Secondly, what's present on the disk is his character model, combat animations, and combat barks. Nothing more than what the ME 2 characters get in the Armax Arena.

I was under the impression that all his dialogue for missions such as Thessia were also there if you unlock him with the PC line change.

I'm pretty sure they actually are. Even his interactions on the Normandy too. The only thing that would be missing is the recruitment mission

Protheans should have been in ME3 period.
We heard so much about them and never really saw them, the story about those Prothean scientists manipulating the keepers, Liara searching her whole life for Prothean remains ...
There HAD to be a Prothean in ME3 no matter what.
Making it an optional DLC is hard to swallow and at the same time limits its impact on the main story to zero.

They probably had a month or two at each stage of development because of the certification process for consoles and considering how short From Ashes is compared to other DLC that took three to four months to make, I can see it being possible.

Edit:

As far as the game feeling complete or incomplete with it, is purely subjective and to me the game felt fine without it.

What exactly about the idea of the developers completing From Ashes after the game has shipped confuses you?

It confuses me how one could think this when from ashes where available as a day one DLC as well as people with digital deluxe/CE editions getting him for free with their edition.

The amount of content he got aboard the normandy, the citadel and dialogue in missions would suggest he was planned to be a part of the base game but got cut in order to make more money.

Unrelated to the above but in my opinion any content being fully done before the release of the game but shipped as a day one DLC to make more money of people is just being a greedy bastard.

Everyone got the same content with him, even the people who bought the CE still had to download 500-600megs of content before we could play From Ashes.

The way I look at Day 1 DLC is a lot different, for to me it allows the people that worked on the game to stay employed instead of the layoffs you hear about, for they continue to make content as the game goes through the certification process for consoles.  If they either stop or streamline that process I could see something like Day 1 DLC going away, but I rather a company make Day 1 DLC then fire a third of its staff because crunch time is over and they have nothing for them to work on.

It's day 1 DLC because gamers are mostly teens with their parent's credit cards or ****** 20-somethings who aren't very discerning with their cash. "Whatever you say, Masta!" Easy win for game publishers.

Unfortunately, I include myself in this category (at least with some games). I'll admit it though.

I would've just spent that $10 on booze anyway.

I like Javik, but I felt that it was WAY too overpriced if you compared it to Kasumi.

Kasumi DLC = New squadmate, new casual outfit, new SMG, cheap.

Javik DLC = New squadmate, 100 war assets, Semi-new* assault rifle.

*The assault rifle added feels like a clone of the heavy weapon laser beam from ME2. At least it does to me.

That would kind of make the particle rifle a plus. It's nice having something reminiscent of at least one heavy weapon from ME2, made even better by not requiring thermal clips.

Kasumi is practically non-existent outside of her brief recruitment and loyalty mission, especially compared to Javik. Kinda funny that Kasumi barely existed at the Citadel party. At least Javik was able to see her regardless.

you forgot From ashes adds a new outfit for each squadmate, and Javik actually has the same amount of interactions as the rest of the squadmates in the game (unlike Kasumi)

Kasumi is still cooler. She just seems like a fun/adventurous person to have around. Javik is cool too, but I think he's a downer, in a game full of downers. Besides adventurous types like Kasumi, ME3 needed a feisty Renegade type like Grunt or Jack. Even ME1 Ash was feisty like that, but not anymore.

Someone needs to tie up all the ME writers and force them to watch Gurren Laggan. Make them cry tears of manly optimism and joy.

Yes, it was worth $10.

I can think of a lot of things I spent $10 on in the past and got less enjoyment out of. For example in many bars in Tokyo you can spend $10 on a single beer. While I love beer as much as the next guy, unlike From Ashes it has no replay value. Image IPB

I can agree with that at least. Many clubs in America charge almost as much. That's one reason I don't even go out anymore. And then when you leave, you have to worry about your friend getting belligerent and wanting to randomly start a fight, or people point guns in your face as you're getting in the car. Fun!

Y'know, comparing video game DLC to alcohol is a pretty decent way to gauge how fun it was.

I enjoyed Citadel more than a $15 six-pack of Carlton Dry.

I'm drinking a 6 pack of Smuttynose IPA that's 3 dollars more than the "From Ashes" DLC lol.

Personally though I think that day 1 on disc DLC is a ripoff. Seriously what prevented them from simply adding that content into the game? Greed?
