And my point is that the Qun is no better or worse than other Thedosian societies. It's simply different; it has it's own virtues, and it's own drawbacks.

I'd call it worse, for the reason that it shows fewer signs of being able to change.

You may well be right about that. But I'm not dealing in hypotheticals. I'm taking these societies as they are, not as they could be.

I support the Qun in Thedas doesn't mean I would like a tyrannical mind raping superpower rise in the real world. I think Qunari haters are taking this virtual world way too seriously, as if anyone who supports the Qunari are ruthless fascists in real life. I support the Qunari because I find medieval societies boring. I find freedom and individualism boring. I find perfect Kings and Princesses in fantasy worlds boring. I find Tolkien's elves to be boring. That is why I love Dragon Age so much, it's that we get a fresh perspective on medieval fantasy cliches. I want to explore what happens if the Qun takes over a world similar to our's, I want to explore the consequences of such a huge shift. I am all in for individualism and whatnot, but in Thedas I can literally do whatever I want, then why be limited to how our world has developed to its current state? Why not step out of the comfort zone and spice things up a little?
This is my Thedas and I have paid a hefty amount of real money for it, so I don't think it is any of your business to come out and rant so you can change what other people wants to do with their own game. This is, ironically, the same mentality the Qunari exhibit when they try to convert Thedas's populations. Fanatical Qunari haters on the forum "needs to correct others", similar to how fanatical Qunari in Thedas "needs to correct others".
This thread has gone terribly astray, I must apologize for adding more fuel to this fire but I must express my opinion. (After all, isn't this why forums are built in the first place?)
And I f*cking love Qunari horns.

I want my Tal'Vashoth inquisitor to have massive glorious horns and to violently headbutt all the male Qunari he sees like a ram during mating season after telling them how much the Qun sucks. Glorious!

@Richardthelionbutt: Taking things too seriously?

HOW DARE YOU SIR.

The People are suffering, and mages are being tranquilized RIGHT NOW because of your apathy.

Shame on you sir, shame on you.

This is serious.

Christ, nobody is telling anybody what to do with their own game. We just want to be able to do something we were unable to really do back in DA2, whereas players can already love the Qunari so much.

This is my Thedas and I paid a hefty amount of money for it.

Since DA2 everytime somebody asks to be able to express an opposing opinion about Qunari, they get shot down for not seeing teh awesomeness of muscle-bound guys with baritone voices and giant horns  and a "Can't Argue With Elves" attitude.

My rant was not really an answer to OPs original question. I did that a few pages ago, I thought it was a great idea to be able to express your inquisitor's personal opinions on different factions. I thought It was rare and really nice that threads concerning the Qunari can be discussed so peacefully among forumites. That was yesterday, when I revisited this thread everything went to ****, that is why I lost it :D I'm very tired of these Qunari wars that are waged by almost the Same group of haters on every single thread that has the word Qunari in it.
i joined bsn only recently and did not know the stigma this word carried, but Jesus Christ are these people aggressive.

@Richard: My friend - there's a whole pack of them and they hunt for things like this. You really have to let them just spew and never respond to them.

I think the Qun is fascinating as a story concept as well.

Like I said on the first page I am all for more options with characters and those characters being able to express their opinions. Even though I don't share this particular opinion I have no problem with the option being included in the game.

I do have problems with people pushing towards Qunari vs the rest of Thedas for DA4, so I'm going to object to that.

Facepalm. Don't write bull****, as I lived in the USSR.

The USSR tanked like 23 years ago. I suspect you are the one who is bull****ting.

More bull****. Not all people are that small, kid. And you spouting ignorant stuff like "The Soviet Union collapsed under the weight of its own starving populace." couldn't be more wrong.

It's not that. It's just that I would've expected someone who legitimately lived under an oppressive regime to be too mature for internet trollery.

I guess that was a silly assumption on my part. Consider me schooled.

It's not actually possible to be tolerant of an intolerant viewpoint. The intolerant viewpoint doesn't allow for the possibility.

Under the intolerant viewpoint, you can either succumb or resist. There is no option to 'mind your own business', the intolerant viewpoint won't let you.

If tolerance isn't mutual, then it doesn't actually exist.

Agreed, highlighting something clearly and hilariously wrong is "trollery" and "immature".

I'd like to be able to put Qunbots properly in their place in DA:I. Hopefully this will be possible? Until now, in the previous games, the dialogue options seem to have been, as far as I can remember, to either express relatively polite confusion about Qun (after which the Qunbot disses you), or make subtly admiring/appeasing comments.

I know for a fact that not every player of DA games loves the idea of this totalitarian collectivist death cult, so I'd like to be able to be at least as condemning and dismissive towards it in dialogue as my Wardens and Hawkes have been able to be towards the Chantry.

Please do not force our character to respect the vile ethos of Qun.

I have so much agreement with this post. The snide egotism in the way the Qun is referred to and followed makes me want to drop several hundred Earthshaker rounds onto those bastards. The least Bioware can give me is the option to call out the Qun as a piece of trash.

That's how it is with us and the Qun. For some reason, our characters lose their brains whenever a Qunbot starts spewing nonsense... It should be finally corrected in DA:I.

So another thread degenerated into an all out melee? What a surprise.

As for the question, like you OP, I would like the option to RP in various ways, not just by licking posteriors. That said, there are some situations in which doing so would be equivelant to jumping off a cliff, because 'Qunbots' as you called them, are not really open to criticism.
