Having gotten the collector's edition I find I want to change my outfit a lot more often than previously. For use around the ship I would like to go with the starting uniform, but when I go to the Silver Sun strip I want to wear my hoodie. It would be nice if you could switch out your attire without having to go up to the captain's quarters or down to the shuttle bay and then back to the bridge before docking with the citadel.

You can change your outfit in your Silversun Strip apartment.

I can see why one woudl want to have access to your gear at a convenient location during wartime if you're in the military... I can immagine even mercs would want to have their gear available in case of some type of attack.

If I really wanted those soldiers guarding the warroom to be ready for everything then I would have forced them to wear at least basic combat armor. Like that Collector invasion of your ship in ME2.
They would be the response team to hold the "line" while everyone else gears up and prepares.

Personaly, I'm hoping for some type on non-government operator/s in the next Mass Effect, even if they might get a goverment contract every now and then.

In ME2 there were no guards place anywhere on the Normandy (ignoring the one dude looking after Legion for the moment), and the guys you seem to be thinking of weren't wearing armour (presumably the praetorians had set their claws to stun or something)

They would be the response team to hold the "line" while everyone else gears up and prepares.

I think you quite understand the purpose of the war room: "A command center; a single location which serves as the point of coordination for military activities."

Let's face it: They placed the security scanner at the entrance to the war room to cover loading screens (WA have to be fetched from servers), and placed to bickering soldiers there to cover for how mindbogglingly stupid* that decision was.

* Remember ME2? The game would launch with a "press any key" screen, and would always try to contact servers only after a key was pressed; if the servers were unavailable for some reason then the game would be completely unresponsive waiting for the connection to time out. Good times.

I see there are advantages to playing on the xbox. (That and the tactile feedback you get from the controller.)

Thought about that on the last playthrough. Weapon and leveling screens pop before each mission, but not armor. Possibly if it was built it playtested as underused/annoying. Steve did mention choosing your gear before getting on shuttle though.
