After completing the Jack: Subject Zero mission, I lost Miranda's loyalty.  All of the options on the left side (PS3) were greyed out.  I also noticed that it appears as though, prior to the mission, my Paragon meter went down considerably.

Any ideas?  And will I have an opportunity to get Miranda loyal again?

Thanks -

I'm sorry, Miranda is lost to you. (I could never side with Jack over Miranda.)

As far as your morality score is concerned, did you respec? One version of your class power gives you a 70% boost to paragon/renegade, the other version gives you a 100% boost.

I know of one piece of armor that can change your score as well: the death mask you can buy on Tuchanka.

You can talk to Miranda immediately after losing her loyalty (when you sided with Jack) in an attempt to regain it. You need enough Charm/Intimidate to regain her loyalty.

You could do the same to Jack if you had sided with Miranda.

^Yeah, you can regain loyalty if your score is high enough. Can't romance them after that though.

Thanks. All suggestions are after the fact. So, my question is - do I need her and her loyalty to complete the game (that was a two-part question)?

Technically you don't need any loyalty to complete the game. ;)

If you are asking about getting "the best ending," it is more than possible to keep her alive even if she isn't loyal, depending the other squad members.

Jiminy Cricket.... how much Paragon does w\\one need to intervene in the Miranda/Jack dispute? I almost have the last section completed, and yet I still lost loyalty.

The renegade score needed is lower than the paragon.

One way to get the necessary score is to respec your class power to use the 100% boost rather than the 70% boost.

Out of curiosity, why do you pick Jack over Miranda?

The persuasion system works a bit odd in ME2. The score you need is a percentage of all available P/R points thus far. For best results, you need to be consistently P or R.

(I will try to keep this as spoiler free as possible, given the placement of this thread)

No real loss there. Miranda was absolutely in the wrong, and her loyalty is the least consequential for finishing the suicide mission, and far less necessary than Jack's:

Jack is the only pure biotic specialist whose dossier mission is required, whereas the other two are purely optional recruits (and you can only have one of those two others join you). By contrast Miranda's role in the suicide mission can be filled by three characters, and both of the other two are mandatory recruits.

Besides, Shockwave and Warp Ammo have far more utility during the assault on the Collector Base than Overload and Slam.

Can't agree. Miranda's loyalty counts for something in ME3. Jack's loyalty makes absolutely no difference in ME3. Shockwave may look nice, but is a crappy power compared to unstable warp with a 9 second cool down. And if you really, really want warp ammo, you can have it as a bonus power. Bringing Miranda to the final boss fight makes her resignation from Cerberus make sense (if you destroy the base). But you can't bring her if she's not loyal and you want her to live. Even Slam, while rather lame, can be somewhat useful for temporarily decommissioning an enemy and only has a 9 second cool down. It's worth 1 point.

C'mon... who wouldn't want to side with Jack?  She's got the tats and the 'tude.  Actually, I would (did) side with Miri, but I was hoping to at least (this go round) to have a choice of intervention so that both could be loyal.

Interestingly, I had a 50/50 character that was able to resolve both the Jack/Miranda and Tali/Legion disputes. For the Jack/Miranda dispute I had to use the intimidate option. For the Tali/Legion dispute I had to use the charm option. The only time I was not able to use either a charm or intimidate was with Vasir. I was able to pass every other speech check with either charm or intimidate.

Because of the house? Rats can be pretty vicious...

Apologies, but that was just too delicious to ignore...
