They should've made difficulty levels unlockable by soloing

I've been thinking about this lately with all the bad PUGs running around in our lobbies pestering our games.

In the single player we first need to complete the campaign with one difficulty setting before we can unlock the next difficulty setting. It would have been good if that was implemented in the multiplayer aspect of the game as well. So basically what it would mean is that in order for you to unlock silver you first have to manage to solo bronze. Unlock gold by soloing silver and unlock platinum by soloing gold. They could also have made it so that you would unlock different characters and weapons when you unlock a new difficulty. So if you unlock silver you will also unlock uncommon characters and weapons, if you unlock gold you will get rare cards and if you unlock platinum you will get UR cards (you would still have to purchase them through the store though).

I would also have liked if they had some of the UR cards as unlockable only by soloing Platinum and maybe a few of them if you manage to get 10 waves survived on a Platinum solo. Or maybe you could get access to the Hazard maps or something when you manage to get 10 waves survived. I mean, if you can get 10 waves survived in a Platinum solo then you are ready to face the hazards and live to tell the tale.

I believe this would stop the presence of bad PUGs on all difficulties. Soloing is probably the best indication of individual player skill and how many times have we seen the whole team fail a match as soon as we manage to get sync killed? I'm usually the last one standing when playing with PUGs but if I get grabbed by a Banshee or something like that then I know that the game is over because the randoms can't handle the difficulty level. By forcing the players to learn how to solo Gold before being able to join Platinum games we automatically know that the players we are playing with can hold their own.

I know that a lot of players won't be able to solo Gold or Platinum, but in my opinion that is just as well because if a player can't solo the level that he/she is playing at then he/she shouldn't be there in the first place.

This would have been a good idea for this multiplayer but sadly it is too late, so hopefully we can get something like this for ME4 instead.

What do you guys say? :)

Oh so now soloing Gold allows you to play Platinum?

ORLY?

And if you can't or don't want in a CO-OP GAME - you're a scrub?

PLS.

Then farming from behind the spaceship on reactor would be more popular.

Unforseen consequences.

Also, 5/10

9 times out of 10 when I play Platinum with PUGs I end up soloing at least 3-4 waves. Why is it like that when it is a co-op game?

I'm tired of having to solo waves just because other players can't handle it. Most of them should go back to bronze instead of trying to play on platinum, and if we had this system then it would actually be a co-op game on higher difficulties instead of people like me soloing even though I have 3 teammates.

Then you can sort yourself to the category of players who need other players to solo for them because you are considered dead weight.

How many people can solo Gold in a "legit" way? 20% of the player base? Maybe more.  Also, people would just play and solo one time with a Kroguard vs Geth using the Reegar. Done.

This solves nothing.

No.

Soloing bronze/silver/gold is unnecessary to play silver/gold/platinum.

Duoing on the other hand - this may be a good compromise, and also encourages teamwork. If you can duo a difficulty level say 3 times, you can unlock the next difficulty.

Everyone paid for the single player to access the multiplayer. Setting a "gate" that prevents people from playing whatever level they want...well, it'd be wrong. And a monstrous business mistake on Bioware/EA's part.

In the end, if you're tired of playing with randoms with little experience and a crappy manifest, it'd be best to play with people on your friends list.

Multiplayer...
This wouldn't have been fixed with having completed a few bronze games before being allowed to move up to silver?

That's very reasonable.

I've only got Lone Wolf once, as I find soloing very boring, but this is a very reasonable requirement.

What if you had to solo with 3 different characters using at least 3 different weapons and against at least 3 different factions on 3 different maps?

That would mean you could play more than 1 kit properly and that you can also play against more than 1 faction. It would also eliminate a lot of the cheap stuff you are mentioning.

Duoing might work as well, as you say it encourages some teamwork even though it doesn't really prove that a player can clutch a wave if he need to.

So, you would deny most of the playerbase content (since they obviously don't measure up to these standards) and divide the already dwindling population.

This is as good as your hide outside the map glitch on Reactor.

You're about as fun as the morrowind die-hards of the elder scrolls series.

If you can't carry a PUG, you need to learn to play.

Obviously, you are discriminating against the disabled, the left-handed, and those with only half hands.

Like the RNG store?! They already limit the way we play by have a random store. If I want to have fun with a shotgun then I might need some shotgun amps but the store won't give me any. That's the story for most players, we already can't play the game as we want to because of EA preventing us from it, so why not have levels unlockable as well? Maybe you can even get a reward for it like 2 free Spectre packs when you unlock gold and 2 free PSP when you unlock platinum?

 with that requirement you would have like 10% of the playerbase able to play Platinum. Lobbies would be empty.

You wanna search for a Plat lobby for 2 hours? Be my guest.

1. They already deny the playerbase content by having the RNG store, what's the difference with this?

2. I can carry a PUG, but it is not fun to do that in a co-op game. I rather have everyone take their share or the workload
