They should've made difficulty levels unlockable by soloing

I think that alienating thousands of players so a few dozen players don't have to deal with the unwashed masses sounds like bad business strategy.

But I'll see your idea and raise you a corollary rule:

Once a player has graduated to a particular level, he can no longer play on lesser difficulties.

The arguments for this are at least as numerous as for your original proposal, as are the benefits.

Is it fun to play alone in a co-op game?

No. It's elitist and alienates most of the playerbase.

Setting a "gate" that prevents people from playing whatever level they want...well, it'd be wrong.

Like the RNG store?! They already limit the way we play by have a random store. If I want to have fun with a shotgun then I might need some shotgun amps but the store won't give me any. That's the story for most players, we already can't play the game as we want to because of EA preventing us from it, so why not have levels unlockable as well? Maybe you can even get a reward for it like 2 free Spectre packs when you unlock gold and 2 free PSP when you unlock platinum?

For soloing? There's a large segment of the multiplayer base that doesnt want to do solo's, myself included. Blocking parts of the multiplayer game to only those who do solo Gold or Platinum is ridiculous.

As for the store, what can you do? We all of us play with that same handicap, yet we make do. Drop down to Gold and blow throw a couple of rounds playing with your level 1 amps and ammo. it's what I do and I do damned alright that way.

How many people can solo Gold in a "legit" way? 20% of the player base? Maybe more.  Also, people would just play and solo one time with a Kroguard vs Geth using the Reegar. Done.

This solves nothing.

What if you had to solo with 3 different characters using at least 3 different weapons and against at least 3 different factions on 3 different maps?

That would mean you could play more than 1 kit properly and that you can also play against more than 1 faction. It would also eliminate a lot of the cheap stuff you are mentioning.

 with that requirement you would have like 10% of the playerbase able to play Platinum. Lobbies would be empty.

You wanna search for a Plat lobby for 2 hours? Be my guest.

I don't think so. The people who would take the time to learn how to solo in order to unlock Platinum would probably be serious enough about playing on a regular basis so that the lobbies will be full. Also, who needs a full lobby if you are soloing most of the time? ;)

Most people can solo gold and platinum, they just don't care to try it for real and thus they quit before they even start. A lot of the players who say that they could never solo platinum have probably never even tried to solo it, and also, if you convince yourself that you can't do it then you will create mental blockings that hinders you from ever completing it.

Yo David, he was like this when he first appeared on the BSN, so this is a return to form for many of us who have been here awhile. I don't understand the reasoning behind it myself, but it doesn't bother me either.

Then you can sort yourself to the category of players who need other players to solo for them because you are considered dead weight.

Seems legit.

I think a simple requirement for Gold should be using any level gear and consumables. Even lvl1.

For Plat you MUST use lvl III or higher or you can't play.

Solved for the most part.

No one is making you put in that disc.

With your suggestion you would have to wait for hours for a full Plat lobby with PUGS or only play with friends. (which you can do right now.)

Get some regulars and play your Plat with them.

As I already said, if I wouldn't have been good at soloing then the games I play with PUGs would have failed 9 times out of 10 because in 9 times out of 10 I have to solo/clutch at least a few waves.

So soloing in this team game is more vital than you think.

1. We don't want to solo because we don't find it fun, and just because we don't solo doesn't mean that we can't hold our own on the higher difficulty levels (I, for example, can't be bothered to solo Silver but I can be considered a valuable member of a team on Gold).

2. The difference with your suggestion is that yours alienates players. At least with the RNG, everyone can still buy stuff because playing the game in any way you want (how you find it fun) will give you credits. With your suggestion, people will be forced to do something that they may or may not find fun to unlock things.

Typical BSN elitist logic. Dumdum, I'm dissapoint.

If carrying people to glory isn't fun then you shouldn't even bother playing the game anymore. It obviously isn't fun anymore.

We already agreed that it is a team game, so why should anyone be content with having to carry most of the time?

Go ahead. But then we will clearly know that you're a troll and kick you.

Or Biower could implement a dynamic consumable system where you can't slap on SR amp if you have an AR and a Pistol in your loadout.

The points system is highly flawed. Since you base contribution on points that is your problem.

You were just the DPS build. Everyone else was playing the support role. It's really quite simple.

Because at least the team tried.

Also, forcing people to play solo in a team game to unlock team game options is nothing short of hypocritically ironic.

I'm talking about PUGs, not friends. So what if you could invite friends to your unlocked lobby even though your friends haven't yet unlocked the level?

If it is PUGs, everyone is required to have a certain degree of skill. If it is friends, only the host need to have the difficulty unlocked.

LOL! I kind of imagined. You don't get that good at trolling without having experience.

Honestly dumdum, I've got nothing against you, but this thread just screams out troll bait. Why are you picking a fight with people over a game?

You need to understand that those PUGs who you play with are playing support roles. They're keeping you alive.

I honestly can't agree with you. I respect you fully, but I just see it differently.

Also, the acolyte is a sniper rifle.

1. And you believe it is fun for a player like me having to solo when playing with a full team? Let me share a secret with you; it is not! I don't care if you find it fun or not, but if you expect players like me to carry you on higher difficulties then you should be able to do it as well

2. And people are not forced right now to play endless of games and farm for credits only to get what they want? Do you believe people enjoyed farming Geth on White or sitting in a box on Rio? Sitting in a box on Rio is just another way of forcing players to do something that they don't want and that they don't find fun in order to unlock things
