Why...on God's green earth...would anyone...ever want/like to carry a team? You're asking whether I prefer 50 minute games or 20 minute games. I'm baffled by the question. Why would I ever want to be the only one doing all the work? Those games are lengthy, boring, sometimes tough and always frustrating.

Trying to keep up with another good player is fun and makes for quick games.

How can there even be a choice in this matter?

I'm just...wow. This is...wow.

some of us are better. and a glacier game can take as little as 15min even if I do most of the work

if a game takes 50 min. lower the difficulty.

With or without armored compartments?

I lol'd.

Neither, I prefer playing with friends. I'm not competitive, don't need to slap my epoon around to feel good.

lol, as if I've ever needed to keep up with anyone, forever 1st . . . /ElitistDB

Much prefer playing with friends, all who happen to be good enough not to need carrying. and I never bother checking scores (unless I forget what wave it is), we just generally have a laugh.

Though I do go back to my roots and play with randoms every now and then, PUG life and all.

Assuming carry = pugs are dead and i have to solo more than 1 wave: no thanks. Its stressful for me, and boring for them because it will prob take me about 10 minutes per wave if i can even manage it.

the friends i usually play with are the same or better than I am, but dont go in overkill mode so we are all finding stuff to kill and the game can vary from easy fun to a struggle if we have a clusterf*ck. Its v rare for them or for me to have to solo waves in our games.

Wow, you almost overreacted.  I think there might be people that, oh wait, i'm pretty damn sure there are people who don't like to rush in games and are not fascinated with fast runs. Or maybe they have maxed their manifest and they just play for fun. And maybe they rather feel competent and skilled by carrying a team than useless by constantly getting lowest score.
Not everyone enjoys offensive builds or classes the most. Kinda like in mmo games, some people prefer caster or healer classes, that will usually do less damage but it is different play style and more enjoyable for some people. Doesn't mean they are useless.

One question to ask is, does the game end when i bleed out? if it does not, then that means that your are playing with atleast one more player that can clutch the wave, but your kit/ weapon manages to outshine him/ them; if it does, then your carrying a bunch of scrubs.

Also something that's also interesting, do you or the whole team whip if that shield boosting volus die? or if that player detonating your BEs, CE, and FE dies? if so, then you might outscore that volus by 200k points, but you are actually being carried by the volus.

I like to score high if I can, but I also try to keep my team in mind as well. Having been on the receiving end of lag spikes and stuff, if someone goes down or is in a lot of trouble, I do my best to help out if it won't leave me dead as well.

I don't like to be last, but I don't worry about being first.

I find that carrying is kind of annoying.

What I like best is when there's synergy, like when I'm a Jugg and there's a Geth Trooper flaming everything. I'm there to tank and revive him, and he's there to make sure I don't get swarmed.

I hate both of them. Playing on a team with similarly paced individuals is nice.

Playing with friends that are better than me, I don't even try to keep up because all that does is irritate me when I can't.

I quite like carrying teams, as long as the randoms try to be helpful and participate in objectives.

Playing with 3 players better than me just utterly trivialized platinum and made it into a race to the spawns, so now I most enjoy playing duos with good players - means there are enough enemies to go around usually.

There are 3 players better than you?  Cato potato pls.

There were. Sadly 3 of them moved away and no idea what Sawed is doing nowadays....

Both? I guess. Sometimes I love being that guy who carries everyone to victory, and sometimes I love being in a very competitive group that just dominates.

Everyone rags on pugs, but I absolutely love the variety of games they have produced. I still find this game extremely engaging. It is simply amazing how many times I have seen "bad pugs" rally together in the later waves to pull off a success, despite early waves of struggling.

Is that reply to my post? If it is, then i don't know what's the purpose of it. We all know when someone is carrying a team, there is no need for explanations. The topic is about wether you enjoy carrying a team or not. And i was responding to a guy who thinks everyone likes to play offensive and if they don't, they are considered waste of time, because it takes longer to complete a game.

And about the volus thing. I haven't had a game with volus carrying the team and i met quite a few of them.  I don't mind volus recharging my shields at all, but if he dies, we can manage without him.

Simple -- I'd much rather play quick games with good players -- credits quicker!

Neither really.

Regarding carrying - I don't mind if the team is making an effort and are just unlucky/unfamiliar with the game, but the longer match for same amount of credits is tiring. Ok for those people with maxed manifests, carrying could be a nice challenge, but for people with URs still to get it is an inefficient use of time.

Regarding competing for score - depends on the classes and the map - I won't try to out-spawn nuke anyone, and neither do I like having to run around and kill things at a blistering pace to keep at first or second pace - I like to enjoy the match and the character I'm playing at my pace, like sipping a fine wine, not gulping it down in one go just to do it faster than someone else.

Definitely carrying. I maxed out my manifest and the only reason I play this game is for the challenge it provides on Platinum due to broken mechanics. In contrast, when you play with 2 or 3 other good players, the game becomes trivial and I get bored really fast. I can stand a maximum of 1 other good player on my team with high dps, survivability and vast knowledge about how busted the game is. I don't mind lengthy games.

Oh, and holding off a position with mediocre teammates that stay with you is more enjoyable than 10 minutes of lolarmoredcompartments games with obssessive, e-peen stroking players.

Frell all that. I'm not greedy; I'd settle for a competent team who can actually get the job done (is that really too much to ask???).

I don't care for score ****s and I'd really rather not have to carry (I'm terrible, so it's at the PUGs' own risk if they push me that far!).

Shot answer: this game isn't enjoyable anymore unless people are carrying their weight.

Neither. Carrying has to be one of the most misused terms btw. If you aren't soloing multiple waves on your own, you aren't carrying.

I used to have to solo a lot of waves when I was carrying a PUG, but now I just kill stuff so fast and take the pressure off my team mates that I hardly ever have to solo waves now.  I still know that I am carrying the team because if I die due to a sync kill or something then the team either fails or takes 10 minutes to finish the wave and die a bunch in the process.

Everybody gets one and then it's GTFO.

Although PUGs piss me off usually.
