Yeah, he's the one who keeps telling everyone they just don't get it

You don't get it because the ending is "deep". You don't get it because you're taking the ending at face value.

Sweetheart, two things: a) if you recognize the image I use for my avatar, which you should if you're going to preach about movies involving extensive interpretation, then you should know that I'm well within the audience type that would embrace such things; and B) you've never even had a conversation with me, so you have no idea what I get and don't get.

Take your mindless droning elsewhere.

Relax. He's just a product of our cultural moment.

Did you know there are Breaking Bad and Gravity truthers out there too?

Similar to James Bond (that's not his real name, but a codename), Ferris Bueller (it's all in Cameron's head), and The Matrix (they never left The Matrix) truthers, in that they latch onto an interpretation that makes sense and assert it as the absolute truth.

Gravity's ending is a stretch, but I can see it.

They're everywhere.

I associate any use of the word "truther" with acute schizophrenia.

I dig abstract interpretations, especially if they have a hint of possibility to them, but I dislike the crowds they often draw.

I like some of those fan theories! As far reaching as they may be.

Oh, I don't mind it with movies. Just kind of kidding there. I mean it more in reference to conspiracy theorists.

Like Alex Jones.

(laughs)

For a second, I thought they actually allowed those first two sentences on his official Wikipedia entry.

The movie? Indeed! Well worth the time.

The article? No, but it's a concise write-up of a concept that's not easy to explain.  "Immersion Criticism".
