To have the most important game series of this generation left up to a bunch of amateur fan fiction writers cannot be allowed to happen.
I totally agree
Let's see you write a better ending. I'll wait.

Point out where I said "I" could, but give me proper motivation and enough time and I'm sure I can do better than the worst hamfisted "symbolism" imaginable.csm4267 wrote...

He's David's imperfect clone then.

I believe the idea of "long term investment" is applicable. Alienating your core fanbase is not a good idea, but given BioWare's recent direction perhaps its deliberate, get rid of the RPG players and start making FPScsm4267 wrote...
Thing is you guys really have nothing constructive to bring to the table. That's why they refuse to listen to you at this point. They tried to help you and you're still not happy. As a business, there is no point trying to satisfy someone who they already spent a year and a half on DLC and gave you a free ending as well as a DLC with 7 hours of closure.

As a business, there is no point trying to satisfy someone who they already spent a year and a half on DLC and gave you a free ending as well as a DLC with 5 hours of closure with your squadmates, etc. Plus, a little more choice variation in the EC beyond the "3 identical endings with colors" that everyone jokes about.
The EC is just a polished turd and was pure damage control.
Not that I particularly care about the endings one way or another mind you, given the rest of the game being a linear Gears clone with an embarassingly bad story.

If Bioware's core fanbase is really the majority of their customers, they would do something to help you, but they haven't so maybe you aren't their target audience. Last I checked EA targets casual gamers, not fans, so technically they don't even make games for you anyways.

This isn't a knock at "Drew K should have made this game isn't it"? You guys will pretty much find any reason to hate this game because it, as a whole, didn't turn out how you wanted to.

The core fanbase are the one who are going to go out on a limb for a studio they like. Casual gamers will just pass it up.csm4267 wrote...

Yes, you do realize that the core fans being vocal about wanting another game is how sequels and success come about, yes?
Businesses don't make decisions based on fans. It's all about sales. If their sales were really low, they would do something about it.

Bioware doesn't owe their fans anything. They make the games, you bought the game. They don't make games to please you or make games to your specifications.

Drew is only slightly less of a hack than Mac to me.
And this game turned out exactly how I wanted; a decent Gears clone with spellcasting and a fun multiplayer component The story wasn't an issue for me as I took it as seriously as that of the average Ninja Gaiden title.

The sales of DA:O were not the most amazing in the world. DA ][ even less so. They still got the required funding to make another game. Sales have to come from somewhere, and it didn't come from the "Rise to Power" trailer.csm4267 wrote...

Yes, fans have absolutely nothing to do with sales.

EA didn't acquire Bioware (or rather, it's parent company at the time, VG Holding Corp. I think it was reported in the $620 million range), just so could turn them into a vehicle to target casual players. They can target casuals in dozens of ways. There was a whole RPG fanbase they wanted to tap into there.
edit: Actually, I'm seeing a $775 million number tossed around as well, but whatever.
Given the quality of BioWare's recent "RPG"s (using the term loosely for ME3) I find that hard to believe. Its easier to slap a label on something and call it a day.

At the time too, they acquired Mythic, and I think they had some master plan to break into MMOs (again). So they wanted Bioware to be a part of that strategy (MMORPGs specifcially. Not just RPGs). Of course, we all know how that turned out.

You don't make up much of the sales. Maybe a small slice of the whole pie, but that's it.
I'm done here, you guys are just wallowing in self-pity because this game didn't turn out how you wanted and you'll pretty much find any reason to hate it. No reason these BSN boards are considered toxic.

Clearly there is no interest in building a fanbase.
