So, my 360 got an aneurism and died recently. Thought the best course of action would be to get the Mass Effect Trilogy on PC, seeing as I can no longer play it on Xbox.
Downloaded it. Installed it. Not a problem.
All Mass Effect DLC together, cost near $100. I know this because I had purchased every last bit of content I could for my 360. Now, surely EA, you wouldn't be that cruel to ask me to repurchase $100 worth of content again? Content that is already linked to my EA account. Content I have already purchased, albeit for a different system.
Sadly, the answer is yes. EA are that cruel. I spoke to tech support. No matter how much love and devotion I have to this fantastic, innovative franchise, no matter if my EA account already lists the purchased DLC, I have to purchase it all again. "Xbox is for Xbox. PC for PC," they told me.
Now, I understand the foundations for that rule. However, people, there must be exceptions. If one of your consoles went away and you were asked to repurchase content you already own, for the same game on the same account, does it seem fair?
I am not sure what my overall goal here is. Guys, do you think I am in the right? Is it unfair to demand another purchase for something you already own? Or am I in the wrong? Is it alright to be asked to purchase content again, considering it's a different console?

Achronos100, look it at from a business side of things. And, in short, put yourself in their shoes. They have no idea if your Xbox, PS3 or PC went bonkers. What if "everyone" (I know, so clich'est) called in and reported the same thing. They would lose a bundle. Keep in mind that no one is suggesting that what you have said about your Xbox is not true, but from the legal economic point of view, there is very little that they can do for you.
Do I think that they should help you out? Yes. But that would mean helping "everybody" out, including me who has both a PS3 and PC's (yeah, wouldn't mind getting the ME Trilogy for the PC, free....

Yes, you make a fair point. And, of course, there is potential for abuse. My main objection was simply that I had purchased the DLC, and EA would have actual records of it. I guess I was just arguing the merits of "if you own the DLC on one system, is it unfair to ask the consumer to purchase it again on the other?"
Actually purchasing the base game would warrant multiple purchases for different systems, but as the DLC were tied to my EA account, could I not download it again?
Similar to how downloading DLC again if you deleted it is possible, why can't a piece of DLC be accessible to any system as long as it's your account? And given the extraordinary amount of money I paid for the DLC, it would seem like a just thing to do. This is just business in action, I guess.
