Despite lots of people still playing the game. The number of new threads and replies and views to the new threads has decreased dramatically in the last month or so.

What could be the causes?

Internet forums/games are generally slow this time of night, y'know. It's the Asia/Pacific prime time, with everyone else generally sleeping or working or something.

But as for the general decline of the forum, the game is heading towards its natural end. It's been dying for like a year. I'm honestly surprised it has survived this long, still healthy enough that I can find a game within seconds, even over half a year after official support for the game stopped.

I am not talking about the time slot right now but generally overall I have observed a huge decline in BSN numbers even in peak hours over the last month or so.

Download all DLCs (they are free).

Game is 20 months old players find new interests. While still my favorite I have noticed the ppl on my fl playing other games.

Well, what I'VE noticed is a fair amount of threads asking, more-or-less, the same question(s) that's been asked over and over (class/weapon/power-evo choices, what if xx was nerfed/buffed, how big does my e-peen look e.t.c).  That or someone having a fit at someone else. It get's a bit tiring to read through all that, again and again, so it shouldn't be a surpise people are staying away.

I still like this game but how much can you talk about it when nothing new is happening? We pretty much did everything and the game won't be updated anymore so unless modding takes an exciting new turn, I don't see much new interesting subjects to discuss.

A lack of new maps have seriously hurt multiplayer, the amount of new maps they could have included spanning all three games could have been huge! But alas, it wasn't meant to be.

Yes, maps, bug fixes, weekly balance changes and refinements to the store and this game would still immensely popular.....

This.

There are less people playing the game than before (but not few enough to make it hard to find a game), and as only a small portion of players will actively use the forums, that means less people around to use them.

On top of that, pretty much everything has already been talked about...then talked about again...and then some more....and then necro'ed...you get the idea. Most people with questions are intelligent enough to use the Answer HQ or the search bar, they don't neccessarily make new posts about it.

Posters who've been here a while are moving on to other games, I suspect, and new players either don't bother with the forums, or simply lurk, gleaning the information they need.

Quite sadly, people always want new stuff, leaving old things behind.

Is this this the real consumer society?

A number of reasons for this, from my observation:

1. Nothing new under the sun. We've discussed pretty much everything that can be discussed about this game over and over, and there's not really anything new to talk about. Just rekindling the same old discussions again, which oftentimes leads to...

2. The majority of the threads lately seem to devolve very quickly into trolls or flamewars. While drama is occasionally amusing, seeing it all the time every other day honestly becomes tiring. And we don't really see new people join (to counter-balance all the ones who have left) because a) the game is getting old time-wise and new folk tend to get bombarded by the veterans with "lolsilver" or "use the search function/that question's been answered a million times already n00b" and other types of abuse, so they don't generally stick around. Our rather cliquish attitude here is leading to our own demise.

3. A lot of the old timers are wary of posting in here anymore because of the heavy hand of the unnamed moderators.

For the above three reasons, I largely spend most of my BSN time in groups these days, until DA:I drops.

Well, now that MP isn't being updated, not only would players be in decline, but as others mention: no new changes, no new topics.
Most of the threads remaining are trolls, jokers, elitists, pug-complainers, or slowpoke.png
Maybe if macro image threads were allowed in the rules... Cerberus is Lazy was a great thread... people could feel free to be more creative.

New techniques and builds aren't being discovered as fast as when the game was being supported.

New interesting games are being developed.

To me it looks like the death started the moment support was dropped. The reason long lived games like TF2 are still around with a massive MP community is because they're still updating them and doing clean up, bugs and such.

I'm actually surprised that cheating isn't more common as I thought it'd be. BW is not banning them anymore anyway.

And I'm posting more in groups nowadays. Because reasons.
