Not gonna lie I probably would take the katana before I took the wraith. The wraith just feels and sounds off.

It seems to me that the M-23 Katana has a material advantage.

It looks realer than the Wraith.


Also, since it's pellets go wider it can hit more targets. All of those are positive things.

Katana is best because it makes that KCHNK sound when you bring it out.

I prefer the Wraith. Probably because if I don't, I'll go crazy from having gotten it to VIII.

Although the Katana does fire faster, it does mean you have to expose yourself longer.

Both are viable on plat, but with Katana you'll want to marry an ammo box.

Did myself a newb challenge a while ago... using only a level 1 vanilla character (Human Infil) with only a common weapon (Katana), no gear, no equipment, no weapons mods, on Bronze, solo... just basically to see if the game is "hard" now for newbies.

It was painful soloing, it takes so very, very long to kill Banshees, even on Bronze, with an un-modded Katana with no equipment - even if that Katana is level X.

Scimitar on the Cryo Concussive Shot Soldier is pretty good actually. Low CD so you can spam CS, fast accurate and good proccing. Most of your damage is coming from CS and the Talon does a better job but the Scimitar is fun on that build. Katana is alright on the GI or probably the AIU.

1) Well, you need to have a greater rate of fire, since the Katana tickles people, while the wraith makes em dead! Especially if you need more time dispensing your ammo on the enemy, you are exposing yourself for a longer time. So, a slower rate of fire can even be beneficial to your survival. Rate of Fire does not equal Firepower.

2) I have not yet managed to get rid of my ammunition on my wraith and find myself in a situation where I couldn´t use one of my 255 ammo packs or simply go to the ammo box to replenish on grenades. Since the Wraith has still greater ammo efficiency, than the tickle-Katana, this is not a good argument. Any SMG holds more ammunition than the wraith. Would you prefer the Shuriken over the Wraith?

3) My Wraith-X disagrees.

4)  See my Point 1. People hit with a wraith stay down. People hit by a katana start laughing.

5) See my Point 3. XD Ok, well, I sort of agree. Still, I´d prefer a Wraith I over a Katana X.

6) Well, if you go by that argument, Mass Effect 2 and 3 are both fraud, since they came after Mass Effect I. How is technical advancement a fraud?

9) Katana M? "M" as in Millenia? I am utterly confused what this is about.

For clarification: I don´t care what weapon you wield, and I am not converting anyone here, at least not trying. But seriously, disliking the Wraith does not make the Katana superior.

The key for the Wraith is to accept the refire delay as a chance to take soft cover.

I could actually see the Katana giving the Wraith a run for its money on Bronze & Silver, just for all the reason listed.

Even on gold maybe... if the the player was smart enough to steer clear of getting wrapped up in lengthy boss battles, and instead focused their efforts on mook killing.

But the wraith is a significantly better gun for platinum.
