I've gotten this way about every Bioware game. Except ME3. I hate to say something predictable like that, but whatever. Not the end of the world.

Right now, I'm having fun watching Ken Burns documentaries. I don't know if that sounds sad or what. The WW2 one is actually narrated by Keith David, so that's funny. Even here, I can't escape Anderson saying the word "Normandy".

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I purchased GTA V on release. I felt that I finally had a game to play that's awesome and not Mass Effect. One week has passed and now GTA V is on the shelf and Mass Effect 1 is back in the tray for another trilogy run.

It seems that if I spend to much time away from Mass Effect I'll go cold turkey.

GTA V is a ridiculously awesome game though.

I am nearly in the same boat.  Got GTA V on release day, beat the SP main campaign the weekend before MP launched, and I have been enjoying Online (been really lucky with all the connectivity problems) since then.  But right before GTA dropped I was almost ready to launch the SM with my first femshep.  And I am starting to get that itch  again (hence, why I am back here checking the forums).

Pretty amazing that I didn't even play my first Mass Effect game until about 4 months ago, but since then I am in the middle of my 3rd trilogy playthrough.  And I still have a backlog with 4 AAA titles I picked up during a summer sale that I haven't even touched, since during that same summer sale I finally decided to pick up Mass Effect 1 and give it a try.......

This series, and the universe it introduces us too, really is just the best there is.  I don't think I will ever not have an active trilogy run going.

Good to see others feeling this. I've not beaten Grand Theft Auto V but would have no qualms quitting it to play the ME trilogy if it were in front of me, I just have to try and fight off temptation to buy a PS3 copy as I no longer have a 360 to play that version.

The world is amazing, we've had plenty of large worlds with a lot of depth (Like MMOs/RPGs) but they are usually in a fantasy setting, so this is unique.

Oh man, I got Saints Row IV, talking to Keith David on a spaceship and trying to initiate a relationship with him just conjurs memories of Mass Effect.

How do you people play the game this many times? I mean after my 3rd play through I got bored because I had already seen everything. Don't get me wrong I'm still obsessed with the game but the most I get out of it is either multiplayer or fan art/fan fiction.

If I tried for a 4th play through I would probably be bored to tears.

I just recently restarted another of my trilogy playthroughs of Mass Effect and I'm still absolutely in love with the series . ME3 had its obvious flaws, but I still believe that the trilogy as a whole is simply the best series of games I've ever seen. I'm actually secretly postponing the purchase of both FIFA 14 and GTA V until I've finished my current playthrough ;).

I guess it's like a good film you can watch over and over because the story and atmosphere is so good (Yes, I think the story is great, ending included!). Of course playing it over and over without a break in between would get dull.

I agree here.  GTA V came out at just the right time for me - it allowed me to take a break close to the middle of my 3rd consecutive trilogy run, so when I get around to jumping back in I won't have the daunting task of completely restarting the series.

And I think 3 trilogy runs in quick order like I will have done will be about my limit - from here on out my gaming time will no longer be "ME all the time", more along the lines of "a little bit of ME here, some (insert your game of choice) there".

But I can't really explain how I have been able to play ME as much as I have in such a short time and not get the least bit bored.  No other game (or movie, or book, or tv series) has ever held my interest like this, and I am a long time gamer.

Picked up Bioshock: Infinite for cheap on the steam sale on the weekend was playing that Saturday. Monday after work I boot up ME2. Bio's a great game so far, I just needed some Normandy.

I like to come here after a hard day's work and unwind by kicking a franchise that's been down since the very beginning.

Oh boy, playing three flavors of irredeemable asshattery is so compelling. At least Mass Effect doesn't force you to play a monumental douchebag from the first minute of the game to its last.

So you are basically owning up to being nothing more than a troll? Nice. Let me tell you, we are all just overjoyed with your "contributions".

You're a text-book case of a troll hunter who ends up trolling himself and thinking someone else did it.

Ah, got it. You are one of those trolls that throws out illogical arguments while thinking he/she is smarter than everyone in the room. Don't let me stand in your way.

Troll on, genius troll.

Back on topic......my attempts to stay focused on GTA V were greatly hampered when I hopped in another thread about soundtracks/scores from the MEU. Now I have several pieces from the ME3 soundtrack running on a loop through my head, namely "Leaving Earth". ME2 is going back in the Xbox later tonight. Sorry, San Andreas.

You've clearly never played the game.

We've been really spoiled with ME, being able to create our own character and make decisions that we see fit. But just because we cant create a character in our own image doesn't mean the characters that exist are "irredeemable".

Alright, I'm going to have to lower this to kindergarten levels. I'm going to plainly demonstrate your problem by altering the following scene from the Matrix:

Bait boy: Do not try and spot the troll. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
Manc4life7: What truth?
Bait boy: There is no troll.
Manc4life7: There is no troll?
Bait boy: Then you'll see, that it is not the person that is trolling you, it is only yourself.

And this, kids, is called "digging yourself deeper".

You're falling prey to the same self-defeating logic as Manc4life7.

Playable protagonists should be sympathetic, not carbon copies of the players. There haven't been a sympathetic GTA protagonist since CJ. He was a criminal gangbanger who killed people and did a great amount of immoral things, but everything he did, he did to protect his family, his friends and his neighbourhood. He may not have been a law-abiding man, but he sure as hell wasn't evil.

Niko Bellic and V's protagonists are nothing like that - they're all self-serving, purely evil assholes with no redeemable features whatsoever. It's as if Rockstar thought the protagonists behaviour and personalities should fit the player tradition of going on random vehicular rampages through the city.
