Why not just haul the PC over to your mate's place and connect it for a couple of minutes?

It's the only solution given that the DLC needs to be signed to your account for offline play. Since you are asking here it is obvious you aren't considering getting the DLC by illegal means.Aleque wrote...

I appreciate your reply. However, I can't see how it is even considered to be illegal, obtaining a free copy of a dlc that comes with a legal copy of a singleplayer game, that I obviously own, without using Origin.

it won't work on your pc anyway because ME3 still has to connect to the internet EACH TIME you load the game, otherwise it won't be able to authenticate the installed DLC and you won't be able to play savegames that include DLC.
some people come in and say it only has to authenticate once. but that is 100% wrong. it attempts to authenticate every single time you run the game. if you run the game once with internet connection, then close the game and your internet disconnects before you start the game again, you won't be able to play any saves with active DLC in them. even if it's just a weapon/Alternate appearance pack.
if you are in-game when your internet disconnects, then you'll still be able to play, yes. BUT if your internet fails and you CLOSE the game, then restart it, you won't be able to play the savegame you were just playing.
offline play. lol what a joke.

I've run ME3 with my PC physically disconnected from the internet. There's no problem on my rig.
Edit: I have heard reports that Origin authentication will fail if the internet connection is there but nonfunctional. Haven't verified this myself. Anyway, not a problem for the OP.

Yeah, you may download it from your buddy since it's free anyway.

Just because an item is provided at no cost does not mean you are free to distribute it without the permission of the creator.
Plus don't forget that just adding the DLC files wont be enough to make the content work, you are also going to have to 'fix' the game.
