I become a fan of the series as well as bioware's mass effect series fairly late after the games came out. In a world full of first person shooters, im glad to see their is a running title that still stays to the swords and magic world (i.e. final fantasy, tales series, elders scroll) though they gain little recognitoin or sales. These are the top 16 things i would like to see in the next chapter of dragon age.
1. Arcane warriorMy first playthrough of origins was as a dw warrior human noble. Though i love the build as i took the berzerker and reaver class specialization, i knew something was missing. Great damage output and high defense, but it was lacking. I knew exactly what it was when i became a magi elf and took the arcane warrior specialization. Aoe all the way with a hard to kill armored mage. I know technically theirs no arcane warriors left but somehow make it happen. Make magic = strengh or vice versa. Not like in da2 where you would have to put points into constitution and strengh to use heavy armor. If bioware is gonna rip themselves off, atleast pick the better game aesthetics. Biotic = mage. biotic + soldier = vanguard. mage + warrior = arcane warrior. just do the math.
2. Dw warriorThis wouldve been number 1 if i had not started that new playthrough as a mage. Yes it makes it seem like the warrior and rogue class are the same but their specializations will be different. As well as the rogue dodging attacks and warrior takes in attacks and relies on armor. And make it so that dw warriors use swords, maces, and axes and dw rogues use strictly daggers or sword and dagger. Dw rogue will be about pulling off criticals on a single opponent while dw warrior will be a damage dealing crowd controller.  The arishok was duel weilding in da2 (dont tell me he was a rogue....thats just stupid for a qunari).
3. Dwarf mageYour telling me in the whole world of da their is not one dwarf that can use magic? Their natural magic resistance as well as constitution would make them an amazing battlemage. Pair that with their small stature, you will pretty much have a hairier yoda in the game. Make them an enemy, a companion, i dont care. If as companion, make it so that he has fenris type lyrium tattoos so he can calll upon the powers of the fade or if an enemy, make it so hes been possessed by a very powerful creature of the fade similiar to justice or the desire demon that bypassed his body's defense agaisnt magic. Once again i dont care how they put it in game. Just do it. As long as i see atleast one dwarf cast a chain lightning spell in inquisition, ill be happy. (I wouldnt mind seeing sandle reach his full potential with enchanting and become a mage. He said some weird stuff in my mage hawke playthrough that got me thinking maybe he will. Just a weird thought)
4. Summoning (i.e. ranger, animate dead for mage)Whats better then having 4 party members? How bout anywhere from 5-8 people taking on the darkspawn. I loved this ability when i gave the ranger specialization to zevran in my second playthrough as a mage. It basically gave the enemy a fourth target to pay attention to while i casted spells. Make it interesting. Summon spirits from the fade as a mage. Call a mabari war hound as a warrior. Adding an additional party member can mean defeat or victory.
5. Shapeshifter (rebooted)In my first playthrough as a warrior, morrigan was automatically in my party as i didnt get wynne til much later in game (i LOVE grandma once i got her). I was a huge fan of summoner 2 for ps2 and pc. Which as im typing this, I realize it is very similar to da in game mechanics and interface.  As well as shadow hearts. In those games, both main characters were very strong protagonists. And to further their abilities they would transform into elemental beasts. Such a disappointment when i saw it in da origins. Bring it back. Make it like the transformations you get while stuck in the fade by the sloth demon in da origins. In summoner you had to have a high amount of ap (mana) to transform. Once transformed you had a time limit on how long you could stay in that form. After you return to normal form you had a huge cooldown until you could transform again. Similar to the spirit healers revive spell having a huge benefit in battle but a huge cooldown. Possible shapeshifts: dragon/drake, abomination, golem, fade spirit, werewolf, darkspawn ogre.
6. WynneShe is my favorite companion from origins. Shes a woman. Over the age of 50. Yet shes more of a bad ass then any other companion in da origins. I had no respect for the spirit healer specialization until i got her and started using excessively. I know people give her **** cause she became too essential to the party for a healer but i dont care. Even if its just a cameo as a npc, as long as i see her im cool.
7. Make a new mage specialization other then spirit healer that is on the "good" side of the fade but less to do with healing spells.Arcane warrior, Battle mage, Shapeshifter, Keeper (if necessary). Force mage was good but make a class more linked to the fade like blood mages are linked to demons. Wynne wouldve been ridiculously awesome with some slightly more attack spells from the spirit healer class. Anders had the spirit of justice. Do something similar if possible. Make it so that theyre the makers elite fighters agaisnt the tevinters.
8. Guns for roguesLooking at the concept art for the rogues in inquisition, it seems like some of them have a sort of pirate like background. Some of the medium armors in da2 even have buckaneer or pirate references in the name for rogues. What do pirates use? Black powder. Who have black powder? The qunari. Tie it into the story somehow. Flintlock pistols in inquisition might convince me to finally become a rogue in a playthrough.
9. Qunari mageIm just excited to finally be able to play this character. I really wanna see how they will stack up compared to a human mage and elf mage. Maybe even a new mage specialization will stem from this. And if they go back to origins type story telling, this characters background is gonna be real interesting. As well as his ending.
10. Dreamer mage specializationThis type of mage appeared during the night terror mission in da2. And was hinted to in the who needs rescueing mission in act 3. It was a mage that was essentially connected to the fade much deeper then other mages. To the point that it could possibly kill them if not trained correctly. If i remember correctly, they are able to bend and shape the fade however they see fit. They are rare mages but the one child in this mission might possibly be alive if you choose to save him. Half elf and half human, He would be quite poweful in adulthood. At the end of da2 he went to seek aid from the tevinters to focus his powers.
11. Classes/SpecializationI categorized this into one section cause i could honestly rant about this for days. The ones shown above are a must for me. While these can be included but i wont loose any sleep over it if they dont make the cut. #. blood mage tank (i.e. merril, the warden)In my first playthrough i gave this specialization to wynne. i thought the idea of slowly draining my health instead of mana was a horrible idea but i took the specialization for extra spellpower and constitution therefore making wynne more durable but took no talents in the tree. Second playthrough as an elf mage this was my second specialization. By then i had all the appropriate gear to lower the cost of health to use blood magic as well as health regenerating gear. It made my warden possibly the most powerful character ive ever played in this game. Please bring back the possibility of making this class. Make it extremely difficult to obtain the gear to finally get it. Or make it not sooooooooooo op. This was single handedly the most accomplishing build for me in da origins. With the tome of focus reallocating my attributes in dao awakening and throwing all my points from willpower to constitution just made my mage god like. Same goes for merril with her +20 health regen you get on her armor in act 2. This is a must in da inquisition. No idea if its possible to make that type of build for hawke yet as im using all my blood mage and health gear that i find or buy for merril. It shows how powerful a blood mage can become and why the templars fear apostate mages. As well as why no one even dreams of going agaisnt the tevinters. #. Force mageA must to make the cut for mage specializations. Pull of the abyss and Gravity ring = bread and butter for aoes. Fist of the maker = perfect setup for a stun and a follow up attack.#. ReaverBlood mage is to magic as reaver is to brute strengh. A must for the series. #. Necromancer?Necromancy is always hinted to in the series. Is it just another form of blood magic or an entire different specialization all together?#. BardsLeiliana was my bread and butter rogue in my first playthrough. Why? The bard class. Rogues are essential in any playthrough of dao or da2. With out them theirs no disarming traps, unlocking chests or lockpicking doors. Therefore, not getting the full extent of gamplay. If warriors or mages could do these simple tasks out of a fight, i would never include a rogue in my party. In da2 they were still essential for these in-game abilities but not so much in a fight unless you make them a boss slayer. To make this point substantial, in my second playthrough of da2 as a mage, after carver left the party (as i was using him as a tank) I replaced him with merril. So i had Hawke aoe mage, Merill blood mage tank, Anders healer, and varric......idk(he wasn't essential to battle at all). Hawke and merril split the threat while anders buffed and healed with spells like haste, heal, and heroic defense. If i had a warrior class that could lockpick and disarm, varric wouldn't be there at all. To make them more "playable" in a fight, the bard class must be brought back (yea i know. Everyone calls them glass cannons or boss killers). Buffing from the sidelines as an archer and gaining hardly any threat, is really helpfull for a warrior or a mage aoe. I think of it as this. My warrior/tank attacks and takes on all the threat and damage of enemies. My aoe mage does some crowd control or healer mage makes sure the tank doesn't  go down. And lastly my rogue buffs, stuns, and paralyzes from the sidelines. For  DAO playthrough 1 i had: Dw warrior tank/damager warden. Alistair Tank. Wynne healer/booster. Leiliana buff/stunner. DAO playthrough 2: Blood mage Facemelter/tank/damager warden. Sten Tank. Morrigan Stunner/healer. Zevran stunner/buff. DA2 P.1: Hawke Damager/tank. Aveline Tank. Anders Healer/buff. Isabella....distraction with big boobs? DA2 P.2: Hawke Damager/buff mage. Meril Blood mage tank. Anders healer/buff. Varric.....idk.
12. Tome of focus or maker's sighReallocating your skills for the next chapter in da inquisition is a huge must. Especially if your planning to take on the game in nightmare mode (also one of the features available in mass effect 3 with semi decent cost to do. Penalizes you everytime you reallocate cause the cost to higher. Take the same concept. If your gonna  copy ma to da copy the good points bioware)
13. Fast travelEver since i heard that da inquisition was going to be open world i was wondering how they were going to bring this into the story. i know they also restated that it was not going to be open world to the extent of skyrim. First game i thought of was fable. Big towns, forests and ruins to explore in but not as extensive as a huge 30 mile by 30 mile map like skyrim. Weather it be by jumping on a dragons back or possibly using the magic of the tevinters with the mirror that merril was fixing in da2. Whatever it is, i want to still be able to jump from city to city in an instant. Too much walking isnt good. More action. More story.
14. The Warden and The ChampionThe creators have already hinted to the fact that even though both of their story's are over, it does not mean you wont see them in a future da game. They also said this is not a trilogy like the mass effect series. Rumor has it that their will actually be 5 games in the "dragon age" era of dragon age games. Weather inquisition is the final game or just the start of more to come, i want to see the  The hero of ferelden (if he didnt sacrifice himself). You couldve chose to stay in denerim to help alistiar or anora or both. You could be seeking out morrigan. Theirs many different places the warden could be at. Morrigan is in this game. And if you spent the final night with her before the fight in denerim, you potentially are the father to a child with the soul of an old god in him (might be the reason for the tear in the fade). I was a circle mage elf in dao. Thats gonna be one powerful kid coming from a warden mage and a witch of the wilds. Hawke is being sought out by the seekers to help end the war between the templars and mages at the end of da2 since he was there when it started. I'll settle for a small cameo appearance. But I would really like to see one or both in the inquisitors party. The best thing about dao and da2 is your decisions directly affected your story. As well as affecting the following sequel in game. You could make it so that u can import the warden or champion or pick a preseted warden or champion (like mass effect). Imagine. You slip your brand new Dragon Age Inquisition cd into your console or pc. You see the opening scenes play. Get a grasp on the story. The interface to create the inquisitor begins. Once you finish making your protagonists exactly the way you want, you import your save from da2 (or maybe just dao or both. however they plan to do it). Then you see on screen "Would you like to import your grey warden from this save?". Similar to importing your shepard from ma to ma2 to ma3. This would have me so pumped and i havent even started the game. This would also give a reason to replay dao and da2 to make a customized warden/champion and make some decisions that your might not have in other playthrough or download a dlc that you didnt the first. This would give an option to have a second character in your party who you can choose their specialization instead of it already being determined (i.e. alistair templar, isabella pirate, anders spirit healer, bethany force mage). Sten was the only one that had this though you had to wait for lv 14.
15. More Mage Companions or able to use all trees/specializationsYour in the middle of a war between the mages and the templars. Their essential to the inquisition. DAO: Wynne, Morigan, The Warden (if you chose a mage), Vellana, Anders, Sketch, Finn, and Unnamed temporary companions. That includes all the dlc's/add-ons. DA2: Merril, Anders, and Hawke or Bethany. Thats it? Even with dlcs? Also add the fact that if you chose a warrior or rogue, bethany can not use the spirit healer class and she leaves the party at the end of act 1 and she might return if she becomes a warden or if you side with the mages in act3. Insult to injury, merril, even though shes the keepers second, can not use the creation tree. Anders specialization either makes him a ticking time bomb of destruction or a complete healer. Lets say you use a rogue for your playthrough. You use anders as a healer cause bethany leaves by the end of act 1, merril for crowd control, and either vynn or tank girl cause you need someone to take away argo from the rest of the party. If you side with the templars, dont build up enough relationship with merril and kill off anders at the end, Their goes all your mages. Would just like some options when building my party. Especially when it comes to mages. Bioware did this similarly in ma3. if situations were right, liara and javik(dlc) were the only biotic user ( i let the sentinal character die in ma1 and my shepard was a soldier class) in ma3 . But they had 3 tech specialist (rogue for da) and 2 soldiers (warriors). Balance and options please.
16. Alchemist specializationIf not more mages in the mix, new specialization thats makes and gives potions to fellow party members (i.e. final fantasy tactics). Would rely more on items and less on mana like a mage spirit healer. Could belong to rogues as they usually get around the crowds in a fight.

So basically--You want easy mode for mages? I mean seriously, that is why AW isn't coming back, because it was balanced so horribly. The balance they want with DA is this---Warriors deal a damage to single target and can take the punishment, Rogues dodge attacks and used side attacks and backstabs to do a ton of damage but can't tank, Mages can do a ton of damage to a large area in a short amount of time but can't take damage. Seriously the AW is the equivalent of giving Warriors self healing and massive area attacks--their basic weakness.

Dwarves don't dream, have no connection to the fade, and DON"T USE MAGIC. It is one of the core tenents of their race. No we aren't going to see a sudden breakout of magic using dwarves.

I don't really care about DW warrior, if its balanced fine, I don't DW anyway. But, I would rather warriors be able to use a bow again then be able to DW.

Not gonna spoil for ya, but you ain't gonna see Wynne in Inquisition.

The issue with Shapeshifter is making it powerful enough to want to use without it being unbalanced. You would have to put a big cost on it, like you take the shape for some many rounds and then after that you change back and am out of the fight type of thing.

Guns don't exist in DA, there are barely cannons and only the Qunari have those. Useful guns are a long way off.

Most of your specializations sound cool, but they would either have little use in the game or they would be very difficult to balance.

No rerolling abilities. You aren't suddenly able to relearn all your skills to make you perfect for fighting your next boss. Its called party planning, not powergaming. Seriously, you could solo DAO with certain classes on NM difficulty, it isn't that horribly hard.

Also, with their comments about potions being extremely limited in some manner in DAI, they aren't going to give us something that makes potions like the alchemist.
