Just remembered that most people here didn't like that reporter from ME 3, she is supposed to be some kind of "celebrity"? I don't know her but it seems the general opinion of her is bad.

Then there is Tallis, I don't remember anyone criticizing her for having the face of a celebrity, but she is hated by some because she tricks Hawke.

But here comes DA:I, so, yay or nay? Do you think it's awesome to have famous faces in NPC's? If you think so, who should they invite over?

Or do you think it's meaningless and a waste of time and resources?

My personal opinion is that, if they are paid to have their faces in 3D, Bioware should just invite them to go for a walk outside of their studios...

Tallis actually gets her share of hate because she feels like a very blatant self-insert for Felicia Day.

Anyway, I disagree with adding celebrities for the sake of having them. If you think a voice fits a character well (Sheen and TIM for instance) then that is perfectly fine. But situations like Tallis and Allers should be avoided.

If the voice actually adds to the character and doesn't feel like a pointless celebrity cameo, sure.

I'm not a fan of recognizable people having their faces in games though. I wasn't as bothered by Chobot in that regard because I had no idea who that was, but if Nicholas Cage is a companion face and all then I'll be a little weirded out.

Actually...scratch that, do it.

If they're good voice actors then I don't mind. Though I think their extra salary should come out of the marketing budget rather than the overall VO budget, because you can probably get as good a performance out of someone cheaper.

Or are you just asking about whether they should have their in game faces modeled on the voice actor? If so, I don't really mind. Though some face scans seem to turn out looking weird - generally I think the best results might have a bit of inspiration from the actor but aren't intended to be any sort of replica. Though It made sense for Tallis/Felicia Day because she was doing a live action series as well.

TIM doesn't have Sheen's face. Just sayin'. We are talking about the face being the voice right?

No, no not that. I am referring to, like, let's invite Nicolas Cage over just because we like his face and voice.

Although, I admit I would love if he appeared in DA:I B)

I'll throw out my regular celebrity suggestion:

Image IPB

Sagely commander or weathered rogue/ranger.

TIM looks like a much younger Sheen. Though I'm not sure it was originally intentional.

I'm not seeing the resemblance. The face model they use used to be listed on IMDB but when I went to take a look because I forgot his name I couldn't find him. It's definitely not Sheen though.

Oh, famous faces? Probably should've read the OP. I was referring to VA work.

In that case, no.

Nay, I think most normal voice actor and, unlike the ME faces, the faces of most NPC in Dragon Age are just fine.

I'd be perfectly happy with Troy Baker or Sam Riegel. Or both. Honest. I'm easy to please.

But in regard to 'famous celebrities', isn't that the same thing? :D

Troy Baker is a pretty cool guy. Likes to play guitar and doesn't afraid of anything.

BioWare should totally put Laura Bailey in the game though.

Eh, it would not bother me, unless I actually had negative opinions on the person. Chances are, I will never have heard of them, or know next to nothing about them. Maybe if the famous face was someone NOT American, and did not live in America or Canada, but then, I doubt Americans would know who the celebrity is.

"Famous celebrity" is a bit redundant, isn't it?

That's what I thought, but not everything famous is a celebrity. You would not call the phrase "D'oh!" a celebrity, would you? But you'd call "D'oh!" famous.

No. I'd like a well-written game with good voice actors and I loved that Tim Curry voiced Rendon Howe but I'd rather listen to someone I've never heard of speaking good dialogue.
