Disclaimer: I'm sorry if this is very irrelivent. I expect some blow back for asking this.
Shepard keeps referring to Kai Lang as “You” I cant for the life of me. (since ME3 came out) remember what other protaginist in sci-fi did that as well with their antagonist.
Anyone know what that is reference to? Usually I can trace the dialouge reference origins. But this is bother me for a few years now.

Don't think it was a reference to anything? Just Bioware trying to act like Leng is someone Shepard should ''care'' about.

Just saying "you" implies he's just some peasant Shepard has to deal with.

I would have to agree that the use of "You" was to give relevance as a character to kai lame. It use was a form of respect,fear and acknowledgement of a worthy foe which in my mind he wasn't. Kai Leng really should of stayed in the comics for his character seemed out of place for me in the workings and scripting of a pc game.

That seems unlikely as they would use 3rd person in that case; conversely, do you really use people's full names every time you address them? (e.g. "could you pass me the salt?")Shepard keeps referring to Kai Lang as “You”

Shepard just says this after he's encountered with Kai Leng on Cronos Station after the defeat on Thessia. By saying *YOU*... Like he was saying: YOU Were guilty, it was you, I should've killed you, YOU ate my cereal! Etc.

The You was to express something like: YOU Killed Thane, it was You who attacked the Citadel.
