My Party was Aveline, Varric, Bethany/Isabella. I change Isabella for Bethany when she gets taken to the Circle. I would have liked to have another mage option but there just wasn't one I wanted to play with.leborum wrote...
I know! I especially had a hard time with that one for DA2. When playing as a rogue I always brought Fenris, Aveline and Anders with me. But I actually hate having Fenris and Anders in a party together because then I have to listen to them argue. I'd much rather have Isabella or Varric in there for fun. So the party I used the most, can't accurately be described as my "favorite."AlanC9 wrote...
I don't like the "favorite party composition" question. That's different for every PC, and in any event I cycle all the available party members in and out. I went with Alistair/Morrigan/ Leliana, mostly because I think Alistair's a shlightly better tank than Shale (is she even on the list?), and Morrigan and Leliana have the least damage done to their leveliing before I get them

Definitely agreed here, this put me off a bit as well. I prefer the "smaller" games of both the ME and DA series so far (ie ME2 and DA2) and I'm sure at least part of that comes from the less epic scale. Similarly, I tend to stop my runs through the Baldur's Gate series before hitting Throne of Bhaal. ToB has tons of interesting encounters and whatnot, but the narrative's scale is so incredibly off the charts I sadly have problems caring for it.Regan Cousland wrote...
Question 7 of the survey asks how much importance I'd place on an "epic storyline".
I don't like the way it's phrased. My chief concern isn't that the story is "epic", but that it's *good*. There's a crucial difference there. Bigger doesn't automatically make the story better.
I went by the words as they were written and put that I don't find epic storylines very important. Good story though, now that's paramount to all but good characters, methinks.
Good, cause Lightning is a cool character stuck in a terrible game. I'm all up for toggling FF characters to enter Thedas through the veil tears!Fast Jimmy wrote...

This is one of those surveys where I worry that people click the options they want people to think they play, when in reality their play style is totally different.
Why would you do that?

Well I havent. However a lot of threads I read is tactical squad movement/camera this and party combo that like it has to be used. Comment in this thread like "why would anyone play casual ect" kind of reinforce that. Thus why im thinking some people are clicking the buttons they think they should be pressing instead of actually what they want.
But each is their own I guess. Just a thought

Yeah but this was anonymous there was nobody to big up to. You could put what you really think there and come here and say something completely different.

Interesting how it doesn't ask which class you preferred to play in DA2.
It would probably make sense if the two games didn't have such wildly different gameplay mechanics. Maybe it slipped past their radar?
I ended up saying Warrior was my fave class on Origins, mostly because dual wielder warrior was waaaay too awesome....

Not sure what I answered in that bit because not sure what it means. In the picture, I saw the camera up-high which allows to see the whole thing. It seems handy....
Where I share your concern a bit is the "Dark, Gritty Realism" thing, since that's easily sold as "mature", "deep", "art", blah... blah.... even if it's plain garbage..

Well i think in the post ME3 environment "dark, gritty realism" is going to score poorly in the survey. I gave it somewhat importance as any story needs an element of it but not not completely forced submergence in it.

I'm really not concerned too much with dark, gritty realism in my fantasy RPGs. Compelling characters and plausible, interesting stories don't need to be dark, gritty, and realistic to be well done.
(Though I am wondering why that question ended up in the combat survey...)

What I wonder is why that question was asked at all... One could think they're up to purposely make dark grimm stuff just for the sake of it....

There's actually a few questions in there which you'd expect them to already know the answer to by this point. Seems they're just trying to be as transparent as possible.jwalker wrote...

Regardless, I'm not overly concerned with the whole realism thing, either. A fantasy RPG can only have so much 'realism'.

I suspect it will do noting more than shape how the game is marketed. If people say they like dark, gritty realism, then BioWare will talk about how dark and gritty the game is (remember how much Dan Tudge did that during DAO's development).jwalker wrote...

It has no bearing on the game's actual content - just how that content is described to us.

I'd rather see a survey based on story, romance and characters. More important than combat in my opinion.
A game with a bad story and a very good gameplay is more enjoyable than one with a very good story and a bad gameplay.
Still, I won't say no to a story/character survey

For those unfamiliar with the site, here's how it works. It's cheap/free depending on how many surveys you plan on running. You're anonymous. The information gathered is used by whoever ran the survey in whatever capacity they would like. The site is scanned for viruses and whatnot regularly but you still shouldn't post what you wouldn't tell your neighbor.
I have a feeling that if anyone with EA was connected to the survey, it would be on a website controlled by them. I think someone's looking for like-thinkers or something. Just in case, though, I did the survey because it doesn't hurt. I'd run more of a risk of infection clicking on one of the countless YouTube videos I've watched.

Took it, and made sure to mention at the end that I want a tactics option to run the tactics for all characters, including the controlled.

I have to admit I was kind of surprised it wasn't created on an official EA website myself. But either way, the survey was posted on the official DA Facebook page, which we know is run by BioWare themselves. They specifically asked for our input on it. It's probably real enough.Magdalena11 wrote...
I did the survey because I'm familiar with Survey Monkey. Just a FYI - there's no way to know who is actually collecting the results. Hopefully it's someone actually involved in the development process but I doubt it.

I did use it for TW2 and thought it was rubbish so avoided using it unless it was necessary.
I didn't answer that as I play on a PC.

I truly hope not. I saw in the Off-topic section that you're going from a console to a PC. It would be a shame for you not to experience the intuitive nature of DA on that platform. If you've a couple bucks to spend after you get your new PC, buy DAO and/or DA2 and play it on that. You'll see why the radial menu is a pain.Fast Jimmy wrote...

Have it, or have it avaiable? Why are you so certain it will be for M&K in particular?
That seems to me to be a point where they would include it for the controller, but disable it if no controller is being used.

Maybe they're in a fine tuning stage regarding combat and trying to iron out details.Fast Jimmy wrote...
I felt some of the questions were a little odd, given the context of the rest of the survey.
For instance "do you value an epic storyline" or "do you want in-depth character relationships/romances" didn't seem to fit the rest of the survey, which asked about pause and play features or your favorite combat class.
Also... I'm actually a little surprised this survey is coming out now. I would be of the mind that a lot of these things would have already been decided upon a year before release?
