Seeing how Shemsu-Heru is using premade models and getting the heads to work for nwn I would love to do that too, but I could never get gmax to open any files on my computer (always an error). Would anyone be willing to tell me how I could take a model say this: http://tf3dm.com/3d-...ning-33855.html ... and remove the head and convert it to NWN. I'm willing to learn if there's a different program I can use or a fix for gmax.

Not trying to rain on anyone's CC parade - but the model you referenced above has way too high a poly count to be useful in NWN. You might be able to get it into the mdl format and get it working with other pheno parts, but it would cause lag and look very different from the other low poly models in the game.

Is there a way to convert them to a lower poly count?

You can optimize the model, but I believe you'd then need to fix the materials mapping. I say give it a try without optimizing, and you'll learn how it all works. If that head ends up too high poly, you'll still have learned how to do it with other heads.

Frith is giving the best advice: dive in and try.
