Haven't used it in a very long time.  I always feel like I'm cheating lol.

I also have a perhaps irrational fear that I'll start to depend on it and subsequently lose some of my skill.

The enemy obviously comes equipped with a scanner that covers the entire map. It's a step toward levelling the playing field.

That depends on your definition of a crutch. It certainly makes the game easier, but so does using a gun.

Just consider if you or your build is the one that benefits more from it. Don't just slap it on everything, you'll hurt your eyes.

Yeah, it's a crutch for me. I always try to not use it nowadays, but on 4 kits or when I use Drill rounds.

From what I've read in this forum, everything helpful or powerful is a crutch.

I've asked myself the same question. Used the GI a lot recently to get the sniper challenge and felt naked once I didn't have hunter mode. But, I think there's a bigger problem with the invisibility cloak -- way more OP.
