Many games have wall hacks now, people like it. Take Batman Arkham series as an example, the developers said players spent more time in Detective Mode than they did in the Normal Mode.

That just means that DM was poorly designed.FasterThanFTL wrote...

A less perfect wall hack or scan would have been more balanced. Either have the scan cycle, or be blurry or faint. Or have its wall hack component be reduced so that it works better vs cloaked or smoked enemies.

Or incomplete. We know DM has a second small screen maybe it was a kind of X-Ray vision that was scrapped for some reason.
Edit: Nevermind I thought you meant Devastator Mode.

In order to increase the challenge for the player I would make the wall hack range shorter and make the visuals less clear... A bright red target is way too easy to see. I have seen a wall scanner in another game that made enemies behind walls visible as a grey shade and the scan would not be always on, but only every 2 seconds it would scan for enemies. Otherwise I think the players would figure the AI out way too quickly.

Geth Scanner is very much insignificant in a full team game, but too good to pass up when soloing, especially on smaller maps. I even equipped Geth Scanner on Demolisher when soloing Glacier/Gold/Cerberus and had much better results than with LoLCapacity V
PUG is basically the same as soloing, so it is useful in that situation too.

The difference is that all the enemies are not shooting at you exclusively, but also at the rest of the team, which is a huge upside. I don't use Geth Scanner at all in full team games.

But seriously, unless you're only using it mostly to shoot through walls with your Crusader/Executioner/Typhoon etc, then you are using it like a crutch IMO.

Doesn't really work.
It's alright having them converge on you because your teammates work together.
Oh right no they don't.
Well it gives you an advantage over the AI since they can't use gear packs.
Wait they don't need to they are all omniscient.
People who say "you're not a good player unless you can solo gold with incisor drellguard" will call it a crutch, but as far as I'm concerned that (along with other 'game changers', the gauntlet and grenade capacity) are the only gear packs that are useful.
Besides, on my medic geth I like to use it to emulate a maxed build. He doesn't need bonus damage, just awareness, and I like having shields. Sure there isn't much difference in just 375 shields on their own, but if switching out of HM means switching into fitness there is a BIG functional difference between 375 and 1200+ with shield regen and melee damage.

Firing rate? His only weapon is a GPR for basic utility (headshots, apply inferno ammo for overload combos, lightweight CD with the multiplicative geth wep dmg bonus). The weapon is accurate enough not to care about accuracy, and because of ME3's bad netcoding based on frames it may not be a good idea of increase firing rate on an already rapid weapon.
The real question I have with him is whether to go fire or heals on turret evo 6. Currently he's heals, but I used to find fire helpful for staggering enemies before they could stop someone I wanted to revive. (I got da powah!)

It comes in pretty handy when you are soloing, or carrying your fellow scrubs on gold when they have used up all their medigels by wave 5....

Wait, are you saying that if you use it for wallhacking, then it's not a crutch, but if you use it just for extra situational awareness, then it is? That seems backwards to me.
