Yesterday it was a little late when I posted this so ill try again....

I got my copy of dragon age origins yesterday at 5 pm. From 5pm to 2 am I was spending my time trying to install it. Ive reformated 3 times. Ive tried 4 different hard drives.

It's not the disk because it installs fine on my girlfriends crappy laptop. But not on my gaming pc.

Heres my specs...

Maximus MB
Quad core @ 3.2
4 gigs of ram
dual ati 3850 HD 1 gig each
Windows xp sp3

The problem is everytime I try to instal it stops me right at the beggining and says. "A data error has occurred"

Please help me resolve this guys! Ive been waiting to play for so damn long. Thank you

You try cleaning the disc. Sometimes some dvd drives have harder time reading the disc if its dirty.

Na it wouldn't work that way cause it has to install the registry entry.  It could be your dvd drive that could have a problem.

it would seem easier to remove a dvd drive from a pc and swap it with your current one rather then moving an entire hard drive :)

Part of the installation it adds registry entries to the register so windows will recongize  that its installed and knows how to load it.  Taking the hard drive out to putting it into another machine then putting it back wouldn't help since it doesn't have the registry entries for the game.

My dad had a DVD game once couldn't install on his dvd drive so he put in my old one and it worked fine.

Given the (now) millions of people who have successfully installed this game, I would guess the problem is at the player's end... Sorry.
