Status of the NWN2 Vault?

I was wondering if anybody had a status on The Neverwinter Vault? It looks like only some of the content from the Neverwinter Nights 2 Vault has been copied over, and much of that looks to be NWN1 material. Do we know if a mirror copy of the NWN2 Vault has been made? Is it just incumbent on the content owners to replicate their material? That might be a bit of a concern since a lot of the content now looks to be abandonware.

If the site owner is just relying on volunteers to replicate the material, perhaps this would be a good opportunity to do updates of the content so it works with the latest release? Perhaps we need a hot list of material that should be saved?

Thanks. :)

Vault 2.0 has all the content from Vault 1.0. In fact I helped scrape the Vault for content. All the content is safe, and backed up in multiple places.

There was a bunch of frantic work when it looked like Vault 1.0 was gone forever (if you remember, the site was down for several days). When Vault 1 was back up and we got word from Vault 1 personnel that it was a dns problem and not terminating the Vault at that point. So work on 2.0 continues, but the people handling it are not working at the frantic pace of previous "emergency mode".

The decision was made specifically not to "update" content (to soz compatible 2das for instance) for a number of reasons.

Vault 2.0 is a rather slow website because it was the cheapest way to get unlimited data transfer limits and storage, not for any technical reason related to the site itself.

Thanks. I hadn't really noticed a performance issue with the new site, but then I didn't have any expectations. It seems to work well enough. Finding stuff seems like a bit of a challenge though, unless you know what you're looking for. Shrug.

Kamal pretty much nailed it. We're not in emergency mode *for the Vault* now, and RL has hit the major contributors hard.

We *were* working on a migration utility to move stuff over, but it's on back-burner. That means it's up to volunteers (who'd do a better job anyway) to salvage what they can. This has the benefit of moving the things they are interested in first, which is a nice community-centric prioritization, I think. :-)

we'd welcome both ideas and help on the new Vault :-)

In the mean time, I'm both present and absent. Both focused and rather distracted.

Thanks Rolo. My main hangup about moving stuff over would be that the original authors wouldn't be able to come back and modify their work. Thus I've only been moving my own stuff and content that seems to be abandoned.

<opening doors...>

All they need do is register and I can transfer ownership of the project. It's easy on the new Vault and impossible on the old (now) ;-/

But I hear ya.
Every bit helps and I *will* get back to the automated migration RSN :-P

So all I have to do is register on to the new vault 2 and all my content will get transferred for me?
I signed up like couple of months ago. Image IPB

I think he's saying that if somebody else transfers content to the new site and puts it in a project with you listed as the author, then you'll gain ownership.

<untangling spaghetti...>

Well, I still need to manually change the owner, but yeah, until the migrate wizard is built (groan?) and tested, projects have to be manually added.

On the bright side (where I sometimes hang out), that means the projects are copied over with care and tenderness and the entry is updated and improved and they all have great screenshots... right? =)

<warning - gripe mode initiated>

And the person stuck with doing it ends up cursing the original author for not adding a label to each of their images meaning they have to come up with something to say about all the affected images!

<terminating gripe mode>

IC, Thanks rjshae.
Just tried to upload Fanglewood to the new vault and it told me that the file was to large. So now what? ...FTP?
or do I need to just wait?
