Would we need a nuclear powered rig to enjoy ME2?

Before the flames come, I have read the system requirements.
My concern stems from watching the latest SCI vs FI vid. They mention how important the eyes are, followed by a whole lot of shader this and shadow that. I remember a Dev mentioning that if you were able to run ME1 you should be fine. I run ME on max settings, but my rig is 2.5 years old, which is a mid life crysis as far as PCs go.
So, to reiterate, do I need to get some new hardware to fully appreciate all the subtleties that the Bioware elfs toiled over?

If you can max ME then you shouldn't have any problem.

You have to enrich the uranium yes, just be sure to have enough cooling rods so you don't encounter a meltdown.

It's my understanding that ME2 has similar demands to ME1. The main improvements in ME2's graphics are due to lighting and shading, rather than a great deal more polygons. Although, I could be wrong, considering how detailed textures like Grunt and SuZe's are.

Mid-life Crysis eh?

As the others have iterated, the system requirements for ME2 are likely to be similar to those of ME1.

Unfortunately for me, my PC has inadequate cooling, and ME1 sometimes got my tower so hot artifacts appeared on my screen until I restarted :/

I'm pretty sure that ME1 did not require a Dual Core CPU.

Oh it did! And pretty much ate up all its capacity (it always used somewhere between 90-95% cpu capacity as I checked, regardless of the cpu or system itself).
At least for high settings.

You must be using an Intel CPU

You do realize that Intel chips are far and away superior to AMD now right? has been for a a few years.  AMD has some catching up to do.

Intel is superior for server and filing applications, AMD is a gaming CPU.

perhaps, if you plan to make a budget machine.  Other than that no

Yay, a delusional AMD fanboy. I think we have every type now on these forums. It's almost like Pokemon.

Not for some years now. There was a period where Intel just suddenly and almost inexplicable started wiping the floor with AMD, and they're only just recovering.

Basically, if the same Xbox that ran ME1 can run ME2, then a PC that can run ME1 should be able to run ME2 as well.

What are your system stats? If you want people's opinions, those would help.

Mine runs on steam and should be able to handle max settings no problem.

Requirements will be similar to ME1 as stated, albeit a lot more optimized i believe.
