This story is never continued though. I doubt they'll leave it hanging.

I'm assuming after Telltale is done with Borderlands and Game of Thrones they'll come back with Wolf season 2 and The Walking Dead season 3.

Oh, goodness, Game of Thrones & Borderlands -- How I am not looking forward to either.. Game of Thrones being based on the tv-show and cartoonish cel-shaded graphics doesn't sit right with Song of Ice and Fire, and Borderlands' mytho is awful.

As for the ending, I found this on the Steam discussion. I think it makes sense. And not just because I'm a hyper Bloody Mary fan.

"I think it was Bloody Mary who was also disguised as Nerissa and Faith. My theory is that Bloody Mary got sick of working for CM, and engineered this entire thing. She can replicate herself pretty easily, so there's no reason why she would be dead now since Wolf could have just killed another golem of hers. Quite a few mannerisms/phrases are shared between the three ladies as well. It also explains why CM was so shocked to see her. He obviously knew it was Bloody Mary, but saying anything would make him look like a lunatic even more so. There was nothing he could do. He knew he was fucked. Why he was shocked to see her at the Witching Well that is. She was alive, and betraying him. Something he didn't think possible. Anyway, this is my theory. We'll see in series 2!"

 

First off, Bloody Mary can make mirrors of herself. It's entirely possible the final one Bigby killed was just another replicant. Secondly, Mary, Faith, and Nerissa all do seem similar. It seems possible that she ultimate betrayed CM in order to take heat off herself. Remember how they said Nerissa was trapped? How could she have gotten out so easily? How'd she know CM would be at the Well? Because Nerissa, the one we met, was Mary.

 

I don't think this theory works. I think the implication is more straightforward:

I think the more straightforward implication is the truth, i.e., just that Nerrisa was Faith, or Faith was Nerrisa. We don't know who it is that we met first, with Woody. We met someone who looked like Faith. But it may never have been her at all. We never had the other part of Faith's body, remember? And Lily was glamoured as Snow even when her body was separated from her head. We've seen that one female fable could glamour herself as another.

 

My theory is that Nerrisa was disguised as Faith when Bibgy met "Faith", and Faith was already dead by that point. Everything else she engineered to get Bibgy on the trail.

Borderlands is the shittiest possible concept for an episodic story-based game. But I'm honestly interested in seeing what Game of Thrones can accomplish.

I've never played Boderlands, so I'm not even sure what it is about. As long as they're not making zombie games, I'll always be interested.

I'd be interested if Telltale actually stopped trying to make discount adventure games, without the actual meat of being an adventure game, and put some actual gameplay into it. There are many factors about it that make it seem about as uninteresting as Borderlands.

Telltale is updating their engine, they've said. I doubt they're giving it the graphic novel coat of paint. It's not all they can do.

They've always been making adventure games ever since a bunch of their people worked on LucasArts doing Monkey Island -- I'm not holding my breath. I'd like to see an actual adventure game from them, where there's actually some coherent challenge placed into them. It wouldn't really sit right with A Song of Ice & Fire for me though.

I doubt the games would be as popular if they had proper adventure game mechanics.

Several video game journalism/news sites are already talking about Season 2. Judging by the total cliffhanger ending and the fact this storyline never appears in the Fables series, I'm seriously thinking we'll get a second season. Hell, the game had more players today on Steam than the TWD Season 1 finale did. It's no longer a sidenoted cult-fandom Telltale game. It's a pretty big deal.

 

If there's a Season 2, I'll be jazzed.

 

I really don't think that this was a cliffhanger ending. It was a bit ambiguous for the purpose of generating speculation, but honestly, I don't even think it was that ambiguous. It just followed the usual noir detective motif:

the alluring female victim who sought the detective out is hid something about herself, and it turns out that the detective was being played far more than he thought

I don't know -- I don't see David Cages games winning hearts and minds amongst most gamers, but that's just my perception anyway. You could argue it be a difference in terms quality writing, but there's always more to it than that.

Basically from what I've gathered...

Nerisa glamoured as Faith when Bigby first met "Faith" (as she died the day before) so Nerisa did this so then she could go with her plan of planting that head on the staircase so that they could finally set in motion of Bigby trying to set the girls "free".  Or... Faith was "Nerisa" because of the whole "hiding her beauty away", but I believe it was Nerisa the whole time, as she stated when she saw Georgie rip the ribbon from Faith, which lead to... all this

 

**** is confusing and really interesting - plus it doesn't tie into the comics storyline, so I could see a Season 2, but if it didn't happen, that wouldn't bother me.

 

Now I can finally start reading the comics!

Consider this: back at the Pudding & Pie, someone had forced open Faith's jewelry box and emptied it. What might've been in that box? Perhaps certain ring, that ended up tied to the ribbon and then left as a clue. And if Faith had glamoured herself to look like Nerissa, why would she need to force it open? Surely she'd know how to open it without breaking it.

I feel the most logical explanation is that Faith was killed just before the game starts, Nerissa wants help from Bigby but obviously can't talk due to the ribbon so she glamours up as Faith to visit Woody who's a well know violent drunk *******, knowing Bigby would probably come over if there's a commotion. She makes sure Bigby gets some idea about who Faith is and only after that plants her head on the steps, so Bigby has more of a reason to get to the bottom of it.

Yup! I second that theory. It's what I think happened. And also why I think there's not going to be an Episode 2. There's no need at all. The plot is self-contained.

In terms of breaking into her stuff, she might also have needed something to make the glamour work. For all we know, she borrowed the little wodden box from Auntie Greenhill (I think I got her name right). Anyway, just because Nerissa manipulated Bigby doesn't mean Episode 2 is required

Yeah, just finished Episode 5 and I agree with this theory.

 

Don't think we'll see a Season 2 soon (or ever), Telltale is hands full with their other projects (TWD, GoT and Borderlands).
