Welcome to the world of fantasy storytelling, where every protagonist and their families are Mary Sues.
Notice any Mary-Sue characters in Game of Thrones?
Jon, Tyrion, Stannis, Daenerys, Varys, Ramsey.
My opinion IMO.
How are the Amells a mary sue family?

Don't know what that consensus means.
Fans voted EA the worst company in the world ?
Really?
Worst than banks that evicted people from their homes ?
Worse than companies that pollute the environment ?
That consensus the poster points to is meaningless imo.
Well they did, some people are just weird, stupid, or both.
What's a self insert
? Did Day sneak Gaider a pack of cigarettes so she could be in DA2.
Gaider was trying to quit smoking.
The self insert implies Day had some influence at Bioware to get them to create a role just for her.
I wonder how she did that ?
Heck, I have an idea for a role.
The phone's not ringing, long distance from Edmonton Alberta Canada.
shrugs.
Let someone explain to me how Day " self inserted " herself in.
Day wrote and starred in web series called Dragon Age: Redeemption where she played Tallis. She also stated that DA:O was one of her personal favorite video games and she wanted to be in it. EA/Bioware wanting some PR and knowing that Day is cult favorite in some areas of gaming culture felt it was a nice fit. I liked Tallis and Day and thought even though she was Mary Sue, I personally feel that she was a great and interesting character and she explained the Qun and Qunari far bettter than Sten and the Arishok ever did.

Jon, Tyrion, Stannis, Daenerys, Varys, Ramsey.
TYRION?!
Seriously? Everything other than his wit and cunning are flawed. Even his persona is terribly disturbed.
Stannis and Ramsey as well?
Still, according to this: http://tvtropes.org/...hp/Main/MarySue the term Mary Sue isn't really set-in-stone.

Seems you just wrote that mess to atack me. Do a better job next time.
The term Mary Sue is overused/misused.
I'm not wrong you are.
As for the Tallis thing, Mole said that happened, Gaider isn't in the forum saying that is what happened right now.
You're showing you're an amateur league of one. Or 0.

Thought it was poorly made.
shrugs.
Bioware must have been desperate to give her a role after that, assuming them time lines match u p.
MOTA was flawed regardless, Mary Sue is overused/misused regardless.shrugs.
The thread was about the Arnells .
Hope we never see that name again.

I'm not doing this just to attack you, i'm just pointing out the flaw in your logic. How can you say a story you don't like and is badly written would be better if a different vo was part of it. It like say this crap will taste better with sprikles, the crap will still taste like crap.Angrywolves wrote...

It was a low budget production, but then from I heard and seen most web series are shot on low budgets.

IIRC the web series was announced shortly before DA2 was released. So chances are MOTA was in the planning stages.
MOTA was flawed regardless,
That is your opinion, I enjoyed it quite a lot.
Mary Sue is overused/misused regardless.shrugs.
That is very true.

That is also true.
It was an Easter Egg. Both DA:O and DA II are filled with them.

I said MOTA was poorly written and even Amy Adams couldn't have saved it.
My right to have that opinion .
I also said Day shouldn't have been given the role, as another poster implied she was hired, if it was to appeal to the sex drive of nerds who think she's hot when she's not.
So if that was Bioware 's reason it was a stupid reason quite frankly.
That satisfy you league .
Hope it is because I'm tired of talking about it.
I wanna watch some football.

More of a writers pet. It's a clear favortisum to a character in the writing and from other characters in the story.FreshIstay wrote...

Mary Sue
That should explain it
So the OP is asking if the Amell' s are a bunch of perfect females? Is there any representation' s of anyone that people don't complain about these days? SMH

Not necessarily females, and not just perfect, but, as others have explained before, a writer's pet. And the OP was asking why some thought the Amells were Mary Sues, or that's what I got.

The Couslands are extremely important nobles that everyone in Fereldan respects, the Human Noble has the most screentime in DAO as he/she is more involved with the Loghain/Howe plot than the other origins. You could become Queen/King and have a mistress on the side if you're playing as the Male Cousland. So yeah the Couslands are more of a writer's pet than the Amells imo.MasterScribe wrote...

Maybe cjones confuses trying to get the player emotionally invested in them in the fifteen minutes of dialogue they've got with tryin to depict them as perfect and flawless?

Because the F/M Cousland has is more involved in the plot and can become Queen/King.No other origin can do that.leaguer of one wrote...

Yes, they get more content. On the other hand, they have the most cliched, and by far the less interesting, origin.

That does not equal being a mary sue. To be one means favortisum. That went out of the window when only 2 can be left alive. It's like saying the Stark family form Game of thrones are mary sues.cjones91 wrote...
