The big problem with marriage is that, IIRC, there's no same-sex marriage in Thedas. Major parity issue right there.

I don't see an issue.

What, you think we could just toss in same-sex marriage in Inquisition? Somewhat peculiar, I suppose, but maybe Eluvianix has the right of it. Hopefully it'd get an interesting story.

It's not that I'm opposed to same-sex marriage in the gaming environment, but I don't want it thrown in for the sake of throwing it in to be politically correct. If it advances the story or certain character archs, then by all means....otherwise, what would it add?

If there is no SS marriage, then you'll have to get married in ThedasVegas.

Presumably enjoyment for those who'd really like marriage. I personally don't think that the audience for marriage as such is quite wide enough to throw it into this game in particular, but maybe I'm wrong.

I really don't see the point of forcing a wedding into the story

If its the end of the world, why on earth would I marry someone? Why not just pillage, murder and rape as many folks and towns as I want? **** if I'm going out it'll be with a front row seat and slaves for the afterlife.

Maybe the online component will be the ability for other Inquisitors to travel to other players' games and serve as a best man/woman or, hey, even a wedding planner!

I would support this feature only if I can travel to other player's weddings and do this.

I like the idea of marriages, I suppose if it's too hard they don't have to actually 'show' it, but giving you the option to talk to your LI about getting married, and planning to do so after the final boss fight is over, something like that, sounds like a cool idea to me. That's the whole point of the romances after all, getting married and being together forever, not to sleep with somebody and move on. Maybe there could be like, a picture or two in the epilogue, of you and your LI's marriage ceremony, with the words describing how you and your LI lived happily ever after (or simply describing their marriage and where they're currently living, if there's going to be post-game DLC/Expansion, postponing an immediate 'happily ever after' epilogue until after the final DLC/Expansion, that would work for me) .

I don't want to see anything resembling that mockery of a marriage with Sebastian. Even Skyrim's "marriages" are preferable.

I didn't like the chaste part but otherwise I thought it was sweet, and I liked how he called Carver brother afterwards in the DLC :D

Weddings can be a whip especially if we'd have to waste valuable time putting up with what I would assume to be awful in-laws, that random cousin who sings the Thedas equivalent of 'Dust in the Wind' quite poorly during lighting of the Eternal Candle of Eternal Love For All Eternity, as well as hoping your trusted, ring-bearing mabari doesn't make a 'mess.'

Here is a thought.
You and your love interest save the world. Then as a reward, you both get married.
Because cliched happy endings with weddings attached are always a crowd pleaser.

Remember the ending of Indiana Jones The Crystal Skull?:P

Why is some random 'marriage' so damn important? Isn't being with your LI and acknowledging it good enough? Some Chantry blessing crap and paper work is hardly needed to validate it.

To be fair, that was a cool way to get married.

I don't see why there can't be one optional questline for marriage. You were able to get married in DAO if you met the conditions. And it did offer a benefit - you were king/queen.

An in-game marriage could be part of an optional quest, granting extra benefits or useful inventory items/armor/weaponry etc. (Wedding gifts.) I think it'd make Inquisition more nuanced and likely intrigue a large population of fans.

I just found it really lame.

Also, where is it said you can't have gay marriages in Thedas? Curious here.
