More like ME had a plot until 2 happened.

I have to say, I disagree. I do pin much of the narrative fault within the series on ME3. And even then, it's almost entirely on the execution of the story, rather than any fundamental flaws of the story, outside the premise of the ending.

me2 is a self contained game with a self contained story with self contained characters

Least ME3 continued ME.

The only way I'd accept the survival of the Geth, would be if they're returned to their rightful masters.

How is it the fault of ME3 that the galaxy ends up with the reapers inside the galactic gates and with nobody better prepared than they were in ME1's ending? ME2 is the main cause for why 3 has to be two sequels in one(preparing against the reapers + the war itself) and ends up completely failing at both.

ME2 is just a 12 character anthology with a paper thin monster of the week plot whose relevence ends the moment they're vanquished. Much like with those 12 characters, any relevent bits to the overarching story like the Collector base and Tali/Legion/Mordin's LMs have their impacts diminished by the fact that the base can be destroyed and or are completely optional like in the case of the LMs.

Sure, there are things that are completely 3's fault like Cerberus sith empire, Reaper motivation, etc but 2 is the one that made the franchise into a blind, deaf and dumb quadriplegic. ME3 merely unplugged the life support.

Personally, I saw the story as flowing well from ME1 through to ME3, though when ME3 started, that's when the execution of the story started to become disoriented and foggy. I don't think the story was knocked off it's foundation until the ending however. I personally love where ME2 went with what was given from ME1. I also did like the characters and narrative a lot more than I did for ME1. The overall story was meh, but then again, it was never really anything big in ME1. Minus the parts with Sovereign, the story never completely stood out. The premise of ME3, right up until we reach the final theme of the series (which was a secondary plotline that had already been narratively resolved with Rannoch) kept it going forward, though as I mentioned, the execution was inconsistant and problematic. As for the overall faults of the series, I think ME1 established that with the Reapers being too ambitious as an antagonist.

You're nowhere close to smart enough to be talking about this in detail, Seboist. I notice you don't do that, do you? You don't go into the technical details. You stick to your little phrases. 'Gears of war clone' and all that.

Introducing to the Reapers before ME 3 would be incredibly mediocre writing. As would significantly preparing the galaxy.

You know nothing of quality storytelling.

I'd add something witty and sarcastic to House's statement.

But Davey doesn't really deserve it.

It's all a matter of how we look at it. You guys obviously hate ME2, while I think it is the heart of the series. I also see growth where you guys see waste. I'm not saying that as an insult, I'm saying that I like where ME2 was going, and I think it was a shame, to say the least, that ME3 had to more or less bring the series down. I just don't see how you think ME2 really stalled the series, but once again, I think it was a matter of perspective on the expectation of where you hoped to see the story go mixed with personal taste.

The only way I'd accept that is if their rightful masters learned basic survival and self preservation skills (which is unlikely). So peace or bust.

I'm a pretty consistent Quarian supporter, but I disagree with this stance.

I'd be curious what you'd think of my re-imagined Rannoch campaign. Not sure if you've seen it before, I've posted it multiple times in the past.

As for the Quarians and Geth... I have word from Steelcan that even DeinonSlayer admits that I'm really good at making an argument in support of the Geth.

I hope Necanor learned a thing or too about argument here if I decide to jump in.

You're awful. We don't like you either.

@Deinon: I think it's well done, and doesn't come off as overtly pro-Geth. I see the benefits to creating a Reaper code for the Geth to utilize as their own, though I think the hamfisted choice presented in ME3 was rather too much of a false trichotomy. There are other ways it could have played out. Good work expanding on it.

Also, the idea of a magic batarian weapon that can 'destroy Reapers with ease' is terrible. And yes, it is magic. Unless you can give me a through explanation of how this weapon works and good reason why the Reapers have no defense or counter it. This super-mirror isn't going to cut it.
