Not sure how long this has been out, but here's a snip of the series beginning.

I thought this show wasn't supposed to be out till September or October, but I noticed episode 5 set to air after Ratatouille today. Set it to record, cam back to see the show replaced by Lab Rats... But when Pixar's film finished Rebels was in fact recording. Watching it now.... & now it's Lab Rats. Well I got about five minutes of girly Fett harassing storm troopers. Well that was weird, for a second there I thought they pulled a Legend of Korra but seems to be an error.

The 1-hour movie has premiered today. Just a heads-up to anyone that has missed it. (I watched the premiere earlier BTW).

I would say it was a pretty good start and the characters were up to par. Should be interesting to see how it goes from here, but so far, it was pretty good.

I miss Clone Wars, but I did like the pilot enough to give Rebels a chance.

I just barely managed to catch it. Turned out a lot better than I thought it would. The music is good, the storm trooper armor is good to look at. Hopefully it'll keep it up story & tone-wise. The short character skits I saw leading up didn't really do the show any justice. But hey, now we know what species Purple Master Xehanort is, a rare hairless wookie.

A purple, hairless wookie?

I have a bad feeling about this...

Is the movie, Episode 1&2 (Spark of Rebellion) or something else?

They took Chewie's early character design to create a new species, then honored that material in a humorous way in show. I think they used it well.

I'm pretty sure Unduli got killed on Kashyyyk.

Is that from The Force Unleashed? Because Disney pretty much trashed all of that, the only canon events left are the movies, the clone wars show and now Rebels.

So if she died in that game, don't take it as a guarantee that she's actually dead. The writers are free to ignore the events of all the games and novels (EU) as they see fit.

I also liked the first episode. It had its deeper moments, its hilarious scenes, and some great action sequences. Looks like it'll be a good show IMO, definitely worth following.

Thanks. :)

That's also EU though, and it has the "Legends" tag on that very page now apparently. (Right above the cover picture)

So they are free to disregard it as they see fit.

That is correct, episodes 1 & 2 are the "movie".

It is non canon now. The only things that are canon at the moment are: The main films, The Clone Wars, Rebels, Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir (4 part comic book series), A New Dawn (Rebels Prequel novel)  and anything that comes out in the future.

Old news, but not only are we getting a scene with Darth Vader and the Inquisitor, Vader himself will be voiced by none other than James Earl Jones, the original voice of Vader.

I've liked the first episode and the animation didn't ****** me off, it has a good Episode IV-VI vibe.

Haven't watched it yet, but my preview (based on a few minutes of videos):

The animation looks dumb and the protagonists don't seem charismatic.

I can be wrong, so I'm gonna watch the first two episodes today or tomorrow.

I'm not big on the character designs myself, but I feel that I will grow into them as I did The Clone Wars. When I first watched The Clone Wars I thought that the character designs were among the stupidest that I had ever seen, but as time went by I got attached to them for the most part. If you haven't seen The Clone Wars, you might be about to experience this, so I would recommend not writing it off so soon. That said, the writing and animation will likely evolve. The first two seasons of The Clone Wars were mostly garbage, but the team got a lot better in terms of understanding their characters and audience, I feel like we will see that with Rebels. I do feel that the first two episodes of Rebels were a great start and leagues better than how The Clone Wars started out.

(The reason I keep mention The Clone Wars is that the Rebels team is largely the same.)

I watched the first episode (40 minutes). In general it looks better and more realistic than Clone Wars. The characters are likable but some of the face designs are stupid. That force wielder boy eye color is a little annoying but the Wookies look terribad!

Is that Leliana who is voice acting the orange-black hair color girl?

7.5/10

Gah, clumsy of me to be posting on the wrong Star Wars Rebels thread.

The show is apparently breaking records on Disney Channel:

Hopefully, this will stop Disney from getting the stupid idea to cancel the show. They've canceled other shows before and good shows at that (The Clone Wars and Young Justice come to mind).

Good the real thread is back.

Disney canceled Young Justice?

Just mentally replace it with Avengers Earths Mightiest Heroes.
