To be fair, that was a pretty universal phrase in the Twi'lek dialect.



It could mean "Don't screw up my dance" to 'I hope you liked your massage"

To be honest, reading the codex I think it's fairly safe to assume that Shepard (being a high ranking militairy officer) has a universal translator hardwired into his brain, or maybe implanted behind his ear. Even more so if he is 'redesigned' by Cerberus (he already has a busload of hardware in him, why not a tiny universal translator)



"Galactic" is just Star Wars and doesn't REALLY apply to the ME universe. The trade language is probably invented for people who either forgot their translators or can't afford them (and I imagine that many merchants will be frustrated to switch to 'trade tongue' as it is probably deemed unsophisticated)



Also, yes aliens speak English and yes they have funny accents sometimes, ... but would you rather that it was more real life and they speak like Stephen Hawking?? In a world where VI's AI's and Omnitools exist there's probably a function on universal translators that gives special characteristics to every alien species or individual. Probably derived from their tone of voice etc, etc

Wrex almost certainly. He's old, and he doesn't have to learn languages every time a new kid comes knocking on the Citadel gates. Go buy a translator, kid.

Garrus, however, I can see having been taught English (under the assumption it's the Alliance standard given it's the flight control standard today) in his capacity as a C-Sec officer.

No, he tells her to speak english, not "galactic," because she tells him something scientifically complicated that he couldn't understand.  It was a joke, basically, that you didn't get.

This question has already been answered on the first page of the thread with the official codex entry.  If you just bother to read the material provided to you in the game you would understand this.  To think that "galactic standard" would be english is just ridiculous, given that only 1/3 of the humans' own planet speaks it.  To think that any single language would shared among all of the species in Citadel space and the trillions of citizens in it is also stupid.  They communicate with each other using translators not too different from those in Farscape.
