You mean... There are soccer games where the score is more than 1-0... I always thought it was sudden death ; )

It's called football over here.

Not American 'football' where the ball is predomintantly handled with hands.

American "football" is more centered on assailing the opposing team than on handling the ball. But that's what makes it fun to watch.

Stupid America naming a game that has nothing to do with feet after an already existing game. How am I supposed to know the difference between the feet football and the hand football?

One sport is infinitely more entertaining, that's how you know the difference.

If a bunch of males grabbing and groping each other is entertainment for you, then certainly.

I like both sports equally much. Only problem can be that while a 90 minute football (soccer) match last 90 minutes a 60 minute football (handball) match can last more than 180 minutes.

EDIT: and I remember that play in the gif, crazy :D

Not much "grabbing" going on there really, now rugby on the other hand......

I beleive we should refer to that as "handegg"

"Concussion Lawsuit Ball" is being bandied about these days.

It's actually pretty fun how you can annoy the british just by making them remember they were the first to refor to football as "soccer".

Also, Washington Redskins should change their name because it is offensive!

I like where this thread went. As a former college football player and high school soccer player, I can say I enjoyed my American Football days more. Then again, as an offensive lineman I always enjoyed the cerebral aspect of American Football.

I'll give you that commercial free programming is amazing.  I watch the world cup and the euro cup every time, don't watch club soccer any more.

Football is a much more strategic and complex game than soccer, it's got more lasting power, IMO.

Were you too fat to play soccer and that's why you became an offensive lineman instead? :D

Better make sure he wasn't a left guard before you taunt him.  Those pulling guards are quicker than you think.

Eh, football will always have more fans because it's easier to play. All you need is:
- 2+ people
- a ball
- 4 sticks

Now, I'm pretty sure american handball requires a lot more than just two people to just play outisde.

I pretty much hate all sports, but I think "soccer" is more fun to watch and play than "football". The former take a lot more quick thinking where the latter is pretty much purely reactive.

It's still a huge difference in the physique of a soccer player and a left guard usually.

No one? Sure, with real football you have more options, like two players can play either against each other or with each other, but in fake football you basically have to choose between having a QB (meaning play together) or RB (1v1).

EDIT: or you can just play a defensive end and an offensive tackle against each other and that way you wouldn't even need to have a ball

So in order to score you then have to go to a nightclub?

I played soccer in high school and had a lot of fun with it, but it's also very easy to get a pickup game of football at the park going.  Just throwing the ball back and forth is good enough if there are only two people.  If you are by yourself soccer has the edge because you can juggle or take shots at the goal.

Purely in terms of television entertainment though, football wins every time.  Al Michaels + Cris Collinsworth + Faith Hill = A world cup every sunday night.
