Then again, as an offensive lineman I always enjoyed the cerebral aspect of American Football.

Were you too fat to play soccer and that's why you became an offensive lineman instead? :D

Better make sure he wasn't a left guard before you taunt him.  Those pulling guards are quicker than you think.

It's still a huge difference in the physique of a soccer player and a left guard usually.

I played center and ran a 4.9 40 at 305.  I could also run a sub 6 minute mile and regularly outlasted the running backs and linebackers during workouts.  Don't worry, I had plenty athleticism to play halfback in high school.  In high school I was only 255, but wouldn't have had any issue playing at my college football level either.

I always enjoyed big boying little soccer players.  I am also an avid cyclist that loves climbing hills

I like both sports equally much. Only problem can be that while a 90 minute football (soccer) match last 90 minutes a 60 minute football (handball) match can last more than 180 minutes.

EDIT: and I remember that play in the gif, crazy :D

I'll give you that commercial free programming is amazing.  I watch the world cup and the euro cup every time, don't watch club soccer any more.

Football is a much more strategic and complex game than soccer, it's got more lasting power, IMO.

Have you ever watched the post-game interviews?  Some of the most unintelligent people I have ever laid eyes upon happen to play in the NFL...just sayin'.  Obviously, I disagree with you.  I believe football (soccer) takes a lot more brain power.

If soccer takes brain, that might explain how bad my country's team is.

Al Michaels + Cris Collinsworth + Faith Hill = A world cup every sunday night.

Only reason why Super Bowl is the number 1 single sport event when it comes to amount of viewers is because it is a "foreign" sport for anyone outside of America and most people don't know anything about the sport but wants to watch it because it is different and it is the final. Most of those people that watch the Super Bowl would never watch a regular season game.

Have to admit though that I've been impressed by the Broncos this year even though I'm a Chargers fan. Peyton Manning is playing like nothing I've seen before, and luckily for him Mr. Romo likes to threw away games after a fantastic perfomance :P

It's actually not. Strategy and tactics are complex in both sports and neither one is "much more complex" than the other. They're actually so much different that it's hard to compare them.

Take two people who know nothing about either sport and see which one is easier to memorize.  In football there are hundereds of plays to learn and they change from season to season and week to week, you don't have individual soccer players studying the opposing teams' tapes for hours and hours looking for a weakness to exploit.

How intelligent somebody sounds in a post game interview has no bearing on their sports IQ.

I'm thinking a Saints/ Broncos superbowl is likely, if I had to bet on just one team this year it would be the broncos.  Pats letting Wes Welker go.......wtf?

You just contradicted yourself by starting your argument based on people being complete novices, then immanently pointing out the highest levels of play.

I used to like hockey back in the days when it was actually fun. At least we still have some good Swedish players in NHL, but it was better before with Forsberg, Sundin, Lidström etc.

"Soccer" is like a methodical, ever changing chess match that requires thinking on the fly.  Handball is simple rote memorization...the plays fail if the X's and O's don't go to the right spot.

And yes, someone's in/ability to communicate in an intelligent manner is a reflection of their overall mental fortitude.

Drew Brees against Peyton Manning you say? A lot of passing yards in that Super Bowl I'd say

Wes Welker is one of the best in the league, and he's already scored more touchdowns in Broncos first games than during his whole last year with Patriots IIRC, can't believe they let him go.

But you have a few really good players still, and you still have as much of a chance to reach the World Cup in Brazil as Sweden does.

Uh, there are still plenty of great Swedish players in the NHL .. including several up and coming potential superstars .. watch out for Gabriel Landeskog .. he has a chance to be great

The Sedins are magic to watch, Zetterberg is one of the most complete players in hockey ...
