Can we go back to the original design for the Templar armor?

After playing DAO for quite some time now I really hope that the Templar armor would go back to it's original design for DA3.

The armor in DA1 looks mencing and serious looking whereas in DA2 I'm unable to take the templars seriously with such colorful armor, and it somewhat looks ridiculous because of the color.

I hope we get back to the original design, with some upgrades.

They both look stupid. Why are they wearing a skirt?

Perhaps they want to blend in with the mages?

Really?

The differences are absolutely minimal.

Bucket head.
Paulders so large they would break an elephants back.
A sword pointing up instead of down.

Yes, truly menacing.

Yes, as we all know, purple is the most frightening of colors while red is only used by clowns and small puppy-dogs.

Not sure if serious.

The "skirt" is meant to resemble the robes of the Brothers and Sisters of the Chantry, only armored. And yes, men wear it too.

Because by the looks of it, they wear their armour on top of a chantry robe...
In the DA2 version is somewhat more evident with the red cloth visible under the straps on the arms...

EDIT:

Isn't the difference supposed to be due to the change in location? It would make sense...

The biggest thing I liked about DA2 was the art. The chantry robes got a much-needed upgrade and the dragon symbol popping up everywhere was a nice touch. Only thing that went a bit awry was the darkspawn design.

Let me tell you a secret... purple scares the maker out of me.

DA:O armor looks like they're wearing kegs and a rug for skirts.

I actually liked the DA2 templar armor design more than the DAO one. They were really more 'amoured priests' (as both priests and templars shared the same robe) than 'fullblown knights who are apparently related to the chantry'. The 'lighter' armor of DA2 (both plate and leather amor) seems more appropriate for those who are supposed to hunt down apostate mages, as the heavy amor of DA:O (upper body and arms totally covered in plate, chainmail to the ankles, plate boots) appears quite cumbersome.

Although I did like the purple colourscheme more than the red, it does not really bother me that much which colour they are using, as we see various colours being worn by the chantry.

Tehre is meanign to it.

The sword pointing up (head) means "Hey, your eyes up here when I'm talking to you!"

The sword pointing down (junk) means "I got a hot sword in my pants."

I much prefer the DA2 design, what i didnt like about it though was how low-res the textures were, i mean in origins the metal actually looked somewhat metal, but in DA2 they were really blurry and didnt look metal at all

Yepper, I was just about to post this also. I liked the DA2 version, as they more closely resembled the robes worn by the women in the Chantry.

That said, I don't think that the -- let's call it a kilt -- kilt is practical for a plate armor wearing warrior type. It offers minimal protection and hinders movement. Are they also wearing plate on their legs that we just can't see? That might make a bit more sense protection-wise, but still seems impractical where movement is concerned, and makes it impossible to ride a horse normally, unless you want to ride side-saddle lol... (and before any Thedas horse jokes are made, we are getting those in DAI).

All of that aside, I preferred the DAO armor appearance. I'm partial to the maroon/gold combo.

Aside from the head wings (I don't know if these have a proper name) I prefer the DA2 armour...

Dragon Age 2 wins this one in my opinion.

Huh. Never noticed the change in the sword on the chestplate. Interesting. FWIW, I liked the 'Origins' style better, too, but I also kinda have to agree that it doesn't really matter all that much.

DA2 armor superior. DAO armor inferior.
