FarCry 3 had different endings, which also had sex in one of them. Clearly a rpg.

**** that ending.

Seriously I don't understand the mindset of someone seriously picking that ending for anything other than the lulz. Chick wasn't even that hot.

But it is a vastly diffrent ending, which also has sex. Should please many of the bsn folks.

Nah, they've grown too attached to their waifus so any sex scene that doesnt involve their pixel girlfriends is pointless to them.

How must it be, feeling so ridicoulusly superior?

Lol sex scenes in a video game.

Funny. No one looks down so much on sex scenes in movies on books. But somehow on video games they're ridicoulus.

Because said resources could be spent on better things. If I want to see a pair(both pairs) I havet he internet.

It's a combination of stigmas and social stereotypes. Video games are much more nerd-centric. Nerds are consdiered a people that can't get a girlfriend. Sex scenes in video games are seen as means to get a virtual girlfriend. Ergo, nerds only want sex scenes in video games to get a virtual girlfriend.

Not that I agree with this mindset, but it's probably what most people are thinking.

Interactivity and self-insertion are the big difference between games and books/movies.

Better and worse are subjective terms, and I am of the opinion that they never should be phrased as absolutes. Some people consider romances to be the best part of BioWare games, and that without such a scene they wouldn't feel quite right. I doubt they're overly expensive, and ultimately I'm fine with whatever BioWare choses to do with it, even if I do have preferences in the matter.

The fact that romances are the best parts of a Bioware game is NOT a good thing. This is a very bad thing.

It's interesting that when he singles out one aspect of games that makes them different from film, he chose one that isn't present at all in the parts of the game he personally controls.

I don't see how that is relevant, and not everyone makes self-insert characters.

Here's a tip, child: Get to know other folks, for real, before you pass judgment on them. You seem real "good" at the latter, but sorely lacking in the former. Grow up.

RPGs by your definition might not exist. My definition is "game that uses experience points as the primary measure of character power" and there are plenty of games that belong in that list. I'm not as picky as you are about what things are classified as, though. I'm actually perfectly fine with more games being listed cross-genre than having some sort of exacting standard, simply because the entire idea of game genres wasn't meant to be scientific naming convention, but a loosely grouped collection of titles for retailer shelf space.

Just be careful with the definitions. =]

I know what you meant by that. But VN are basically books with images (there is one that uses animated videos, School Days, creeped the sh*t out of me).

Walking Dead is more like a movie with choices, than a VN or RPG.

Ah fair enough.

I'm never playing Corpse Party again. NOPE NOPE NOPE.

True.

Nah It's a vastly STUPID ending. Many BSN folks have some tastes.

I don't personally think they're the best thing, I don't even consider them important enough to be a thing. But that doesn't change the fact that everyone is entitled to their tastes and opinions.

You don't see how the difference between actively role-playing and passively reading/watching material makes that comment relevant? Mmmkay.

It says in the article that creating sex scenes that feel genuine and believable will be "incredibly expensive in terms of animation fidelity."

Can't speak for earlier games but DA I seems to be throwing alot of resources at something that makes up about 1% of the game.
