Think I missed a few words out of my previous post when I edited it - I'll try again: what I meant was, why don't people who want gratuitous nudity in sex scenes just go watch porn. To clarify; tasteful fulfilment or consummation scenes make perfect sense, I'm not suggesting there's anything wrong with those.

Because we want to see our favorite characters naked, not some chick(or male, depending on your sexual orientation) we don't know. There's a difference. Also, how about the people who don't want sex scenes just skip them? Problem solved.

Go look at fan art?

I mean in 3D. Fan art isn't the same and besides, it's a lot more convenient if you have the sex scene in the game.

*shrug* I suspect I will never fully understand cultures that have no problem depicting violence and gore in their media, but shies from doing so when it comes to romance and sex.

Odd thing is, I'm a member of one such society.

The reason most people here are against love scenes because they consider they take away from parts of the game they're more interested in, not out of puritanism. Or so I hope.

I suppose it's a debate on what's artistic and what is just tittilating for tittilation's sake.

Yes, I know. I used "******".

It's the same argument why some people don't want multiple playable races in ME4. "I'm not interested in that stuff, so BW should focus solely on the content I'm interested in."

There are worse societies. Societies when there is no problem in throwing in our face naked women and violence in a multitude of tv programs at every hour, and then critics VG for being violent, or censor blood and violence in anime (as it happens in my society).
I personally have no problem in having sex scenes in VG. Though I ultimately don't care how they are rapresented, or if they do the FtB method, because they're few seconds in the game that aren't (in my opinion) even central in the romance arc.

Sigh. Race choices in ME4 would definitely make me really interested in the game (assuming that race choices isn't limited to asari and humans).

Portugal too. The media here tends to leave the games industry alone. They did talk about GTA V for example, but only one of the TV channels (TVI, wich is the worst btw) made a fuss about it. You know, the usual, "gamers are professional killers".

Lol no about Italy. VG were often criticized for the sexual content. And I don't want to start talking about the critics about violence in VG, or the censoring of blood, violence and nudity in anime.
The media here often talk about how the VG influenced negatively people.

Mock violence is has been considered acceptable for quite some time, especially for young males.  That's not new for video games.  The attitude toward sex, on the other hand, is usually that they don't need to know until their old enough to have it.  Then there are general cultural values of modesty.

That's my analysis.

I don't know why Bioware decided to release this info now.
If I was them I would have waited until I was ready to release the companion info, and also disclosed which companions were romancible.
Bioware must be aware of the war on the BSN between the romance lovers and the romance haters. So why disclose this now ?
Maybe they assumed the info would be controversial no matter when it was released.
I expected a mod would have been in here by now to issue warnings / threaten bans. Surprised that hasn't happened yet.
The why don't they just watch porn references are offensive, imo and I hope they get deleted.
I can see there have been a few deletions.
There won't be fade to black, that's obvious so people are wasting time asking for that.
The romance fans wanted ME Liara type romances and that's what is going to happen .
Calling it a waste of Bioware's time and resources, calling it s*** , whatever is meaningless .
shrugs.

Really man? Your going to use that as an excuse?

That's like saying films can't include sex scenes. Come on man, it's 2013... Fade to black clothed sex scenes are just a cop-out nowadays and really don't work at all.

Mass Effect handled them perfectly, without going too far which some people think the Witcher does.

This is a step in the right direction for Dragon Age and any other future games Bioware develop.

Because sex scenes have always been horrible in video games. When it comes to romance arcs in games, I'll take dialog over scenes anyday.

I'm sorry but what kind of impossibly high standards have people created for themselves for how sex should be in video games? I've haven't heard anyone say Liara's sex scene in ME3 was poorly done. Miranda in ME2 was good too.
