Why do people make the nudity or sex scenes such a big deal? Yeah, they are important for many reasons (be it good AND bad) but isn't making the LIs interesting characters and making them show in different ways how much they care for you a lot more important? Sex scenes need to stop being shown as an objective to be achieved. Imo THAT'S the way to be mature about it...
Gamespot: DA Inquisition sex scenes will be "mature and tasteful."

Technically, DA2 didn't have any sex scenes, at least not that I remember. People handled that surprisingly well. Maybe the trick is in not telling them in advance?
I don't know, I didn't spend much time with DA2 so I really can't say if anyone handled it well or not, I do remember that this was one of the many things people complained about ME2. Still, I think if romances were to disappear a lot of people would be unhappy.

From Mr. House's post, I got the impression that he suggested I didn't play much in the way of games, or not the right kind of games, in terms of being able to argue for or against the merits of varying states of nudity in Bioware games. That post was meant to point out how long I've been gaming, not that I'm against bare bottoms, breasts and penises in appropriately romantic settings within Bioware games.
*shrug* ME3 did a good job with romance scenes, especially the Liara ones. If that's what Bioware does with DAI, I shan't complain.

Look, if you want to see nudity in a game just for the sake of it, then there's something wrong with you. Nudity does not serve any purpose and is usually, if not always, disproportionately unfair with how women are portrayed.

I find the first part laughable. I do agree with the second one, though, it is disproportionately unfair. Never claimed that this shouldn't be fixed.Daissran wrote...

How about skipping all romance altogether. I mean, it doesn't add anything to the game beyond a little immersion (just like nudity within a romance). Let's just leave the questing and looting, that's what makes games. Take nudity out of movies, too, while you're at it. You can carry your point across or deliver a message without taking someone's clothes off.

Nudity is generally part of sex, and if sex is par of video games no harm in showing some.
It just needs to be a non issue

The problem is a lot of people do the whole romancing, specifically BECAUSE of the sex scenes and the nudity. These become an issue when they only serve to pursue pornographic tastes.
If sex scenes are shown in a way that they are NOT the main objective of romancing a LI, maybe nudity and sex will stop being an issue then!

The point was to make you feel more vulnerable in the character's shoes. Regular clothes don't offer much protection, but nevertheless people do tend to feel less secure when naked.TheChris92 wrote...
The thing with nudity in some recent games is that said content feels more like the developers wanting to show off rather than adding anything to overall experience. Heavy Rain had that one shower scene, with bare breasts, which felt utterly pointless beyond satisfying your average Joe, perhaps.
Though to be blunt, a nice pair of ****** always add to the experience. It's just not something that can save an otherwise poor product. The infamous "Showgirls" is full of boobs, yet manages to be god-awful.

There is no such way. Whoever is a pervert and plays the game for the porn will either go on rule34 or download a nude mod of Nexus. The rest of the people will play it like they always did. We're all (well, most of us) adults here who saw much more than that video-game is ever going to have in real life. Fade to black isn't really that big an issue (for me, at least) but seeing Traynor taking a shower in her clothes literally made me get off my computer and get a drink - it's hilariously stupid and childish.MissCurlsbel wrote...

Why do people download nude mods, porn mods and sex mods from the Nexus when they can go watch porn as well? It's even more illogical in that case especially because if you think about it, you're wasting valuable space in your HDD and adding the potential to break your game be it Mass Effect, Skyrim, New Vegas, etc.
I don't think it is above to some people to play an entire game just for sex or for a trivial romance. Like I've said before, picture what would happen if romances were suddenly removed, a lot of people complained about the lack of romances in Awakening, but I guess it wasn't that big of a deal because it wasn't a full game and the romances were already present in normal DA:O.

Traynor takes a shower in her clothes? I actually didn't even know about that. They shouldn't have included that scene then, since that does sound quite a bit ridiculous
As for the sex scenes being important or not, fact is that they take up a majority of the "romance time" you have with a character. I find that making the LIs do and say things to show you are cared about is a lot more important to the romance and relationship between the characters rather then giving sex scenes as the "prize" for investing your time into the LIs.

Traynor wears her bra into the shower. The really dumb part is that Shepard goes in with her fully dressed. In the most idiotic sex scene Mass Effect has ever made.

And I agree that the dialogue is more important if it's well written, but there is nothing wrong with a tasteful scene. In fact, it adds to the experience.
Also, what Darth Krytie said. I never actually romanced Traynor myself but I've seen the scene. It's cringe-worthy. I'll take fade to black and bad porn music over that idiocy.
