You guys know this is relative expense, right? I don't think he's saying the sex-cutscenes take up 3/4 of the budget.

Maybe not, but I guess the lack of a believable *sex* scene in terms of animation can indeed save resources that could be better spent elsewhere.


Personally, I don't really care if there will be a genuine *sex* scene or not because I want my romance to be well written and executed. A nicely done intimate scene as culmination of the characters' relationship would surely be a nice extra, but it's not that important to me.
If, however, the sex scene would be done like, for example in Mass Effect (only the first one, though), that would make me very happy. I think that one hit a nice note because it didn't suggest the act alone, but also the relationship and intimacy behind it.

Meh people have their reasons and underlying agendas. I know for sure mines isn't altruistic or noble.

That's a level one explanation.
Care to go down through the levels to possibly arrive at "Diablo" ?
(Yeah that's sorta the game reference - not hell necessarily.)
On second thought, sometimes it's better just leave surface waters undisturbed.
This alternative takes alot of resources, and we'd in all likelihood would be "locked down" before we got to the end.

So, glad you like the pixels in a few ways, and you have seen that others like them in some additional ways (even if it's not your cup-a-tea).

That would be interactive, not cinematic.

To me, this is good news. Of the various Bioware games, I think that Mass Effect handled these scenes in the most mature and artistic way. This isn't to say that I think that no other Bioware game had better dialogue during the romance scenes, but simply regarding the animation of the cutscenes I think that the careful use of cameras to allow both nudity and concealment worked best.
