Since she confirmed this info on the old forums around 9pm US West Coast time, does that bother anybody? She also confirmed that you get 2 squad points till level 20 and 1 point till 30 = total is 50 points. You also, if you get a bonus talent, receive a free squad point in that talent for a grand total of 51 points.

Progression is as speculated by most: 1/2/3/4 and evolve.

My question is do you need certain levels in one talent to gain another talent? I do not have a link but another post showed a screenshot of a soldier that intimated this to be true. If I remember, you needed two levels in cryo ammo to get incendiary ammo. If this is the case, you cannot truly ignore a talent.

Any info from a developer would be appreciated.

I haven't heard anything about having to unlock class talents. Bonus talents are obviously different

Since we don't have weapon specialization anymore, 60 levels would be pointless.

Speculation has been rife for ages, but Christina did only confirm it on 18th Jan.

It doesn't bother me at all. I fully expect the cap to be raised via DLC anyway.

She made a more detailed post on the 18th. Basically, you get 50 total points to spend (2 per level until 20, then 1 per level) plus, when you unlock a bonus talent you get one free point in it.

did it answer the question of what happens when you have leftover points? for now im just gonna have to assumed we get screwed out of points for having certain stat builds.

since there is the ability to play after the main story line is finished, I guess there's no reason you shouldn't be able to reach that cap in one playthrough, unlike ME1. Which has me wondering why the big change to add a new game+. I'm not complaining, just wondering the need for NG+ if it's not to reach the level cap, which should be able to be done in 1 playthrough now

I was wondering the exact same thing ever since I saw those class reveal vids with lvl 30's and 2 leftover points...

I like it this way better if they make it more worth while, let's be honest there came a point in Mass Effect where leveling up was like taking a crap, everyone was doing it. I enjoy my level ups to have more meaning than getting like 2-3 every time I talk to a Hannar.

That's a crappy part about the level cap being so low.  Also with the DLC we're going to be stuck hitting the level cap unless they go the money grabbing route(Bethesda) and only increase the level cap if you pay.

Did she explain how much experience is required for level 30? It could be as equally difficult as reaching 60.

That's a good point

But the point I was trying to make is regardless of what the cap is, if it can be reached in 1 playthrough, why have a NG+ at all?  Maybe just to use your same character and make different choices?  I dunno

Also we get some bonus points for importing a character. It was apparently confirmed in the Best Buy Q&A. Don't know how many points, but some at least.

On NG+, how many people actually played NG+ to hit the level cap? I played so I could play a complete playthrough with a character that had a finalized build. The levels in NG+ were totally irrelevant to me.

If you don't want leftover points, you should plan out a build :) Unfortunately, I'm not sure there is a nice way to spend 51 points. 50 points is easy, 52, 53, 55 are easy. 51 points is awkward though, heh.

It seems doubtful that you'll end up with too few points to buy anything.

Confirmed by CN to be possible in one playthrough.

I'm not going ot answer your questions directly as they've been answered before in pieces and I don't want to spoil it.   But The worry of 30 being a max is totally meaningless.  30 could be 60, 300, or 3000 and you'd never know the difference.  In that, If the lvl cap is 30 and you need 3000 XP to get to that lvl cap, I can make it 300 and you now need 30000 xp to get to 300, but then make every enemy give you 10x XP. Net difference of 0.   Also do you really think we're out to hurt your enjoyment of the game or make a better game overall? As I've said countless times in the past, it's not in our best interests to make crappy games, and we've been making pretty good games thus far (at least I think so) :)

Have a little faith and don't worry about it.
