As you chase Dr. Eva across the roof of the Mars archives a Cerberus shuttle flies in with a couple of troopers who shoot at you. They have never caused a problem before so I have never really paid any attention to them. This time, however, I was in a playful mood, so I looked over there, saw the two troopers, and decided to have Ash hit them with an incidendiary grenade which I followed up with a chain overload. Made a mess of those troopers! I really need to stop being so caught up in tunnel vision and take in my surroundings more, I guess.
Why didn't this occur to me before?

I had Liara use Singularity on them once and they flew out of the shuttle and fell to their deaths. I love letting physics do the work. Ah... so many lols...

The first time I paid attention and took my time taking them out on a recent playthrough, I realized it's actually possible to let the robot escape and get a Critical Mission Failure.

I like it when they give you those little optional targets. There's a similar scene on the Tuchanka: Bomb mission when the Cerberus guys are clearing out in shuttles. There's nothing to gain from killing them except the satisfaction.
Which is all you need.

Don't kill troops in shuttles - the game engine clearly can't handle it.

Ah yes. I've been doing that for a while. Don't want any of them to get away!

That is precisely why I had such tunnel vision before. But if you don't take too long on it you can have a bit of fun taking them down.
