What do you guys think about shockwave recently? I love it in SP, combined with a singularity it can cause multiple BE's with one cast :) as well as staggering, being a source AND detonator with 6a, and moves through walls :) why are double throw/pull preferred?

I hate it, because it looks weak. I don't kno if it's the animation or the SFX, but I never liked it. It's a good power to detonate stuff, but I don't like it... Now, Slam,.. that's the love of my adept life

I'd rather use Pull and Throw because they have shorter cooldowns and greater range. I found Shockwave's ability to detonate multiple BEs per cast to be extremely unreliable. Also unreliable is using it as a source, since it seemed to me the lift effect is very short-lived, and when I play an Adept I usually don't have another biotic on the team so I make my own combos.

As for traveling through walls, I can honestly say that the times when that has been actually useful to me, and not something easily accomplished by another power, have been few and far between.

Shockwave is an ok power, I don't hate it like I did in ME2. But it suffers from the Adept's skillset already having so much redundancy built in. Pull and Singularity are both better set-ups, Throw is a better detonator, Warp does both and has a debuff component. Shockwave just gets left in the dust, IMO.

Overall, shockwave has always struck me as something they did for the looks rather than its utility.

Pretty much what brad2240 wrote:

Basically, you can cast Singularity/Pull and then detonate with Throw before your first Shockwave is off cooldown.
Shockwave's range is limited, even with the increased radius distance at rank 5. And selecting the increased distance means you lose out on the increased biotic detonation damage.

And Singularity is very redundant with the ME3 Adept's skillset, where you can have the afforementioned Singularity, Pull, Warp, and Throw.

And like Brad points out, the Lift evolution does not last very long. It seems to stop lifting around the same time if it is off cooldown, making it hard to detonate as a primer. Vanguards have Nova which does not require a cooldown so they can detonate off the lift portion.

Shockwave can go through cover, but I can count on one hand the number of times that is actually useful.

And in multiplayer, Shockwave tends to get bugged and fails to hit anything when cast. So really Shockwave is crappy power overall as it is overshadowed by other, better powers.

Throw tracks and has greater range. The propagation of shockwave is in odd in the geometry and subsequently the hit detection, so it isn't the most reliable. Radius is small, and the evolution to increase it can cause it to not hit anything due to glitch.

Funny, I liked it in ME2 for crowd control, but hate it in ME3 due to the point blank range and long cooldown timer. I never bother putting points into it as a Vanguard until everything else is level 6.

Completely forgot it even existed, to be honest. Too much time better spent charging, novablasting, and painting my foes with reave, I suppose (also a limited number of fingers on my end makes it a bit hard to fit more powers into the mix and I'd honestly rather use pull over it any day)

If you have Javik, try Dark Channel instead of Reave. It will jump from enemy to enemy as you dispatch them. Works really well with a Charge/Nova Vanguard.
