Hello, new, (not to ME3 MP) looking for people on 360!

Anyway, I play on 360, and I play a lot of ME3. I THOUGHT I was a good player until yesterday, but, I haven't really gotten to play the game with the bunch of crap I've learned from this site. About to run some Gold now, up fro some Plat later if anyone wants to play add me GT: UnitCrash.
2 quick questions:
1) Wtf is the term "Shield Gate?"
2) How do you slide over cover?
Although I've read a bunch of threads, none of them gave me clarification on these two items.

To slide over cover - run towards low cover and when your character begins the 'getting into cover animation' release 'A' then immediately press and hold it again. Takes a bit of getting used to.

I will have to practice it, I've done it accidentally but never really thought it was something that could be done purposefully, I thought it was a random ocurrence, tbh.

Yes, you get two windows of immunity, so you cannot die in less than three hits,(dot can go through), and the windows don't work as well on higher difficulties, on plat you get one frame, so it will stop bleedthrough, but not much else,
this is why enemies like mauraders are far more dangerous on high difficulties than heavy hitters like scions proportionatly, scions one hit your shields on most difficulties anyways, they need three shots, if you aviod one shot the scion cannot kill you, but the maurader does not give one flying F***, and will rip through your shields, and health, and can kill weaker kits in a single burst of gunfire,
