Should I wait to get Ashley back before going to Eden Prime? Does she add much to the mission?

No, its better to get Javik pretty early on

It's better to have Javik as early as possible since he adds tons of dialogue throughout most of the game. You'd be doing yourself a great disservice if you waited just to get 1 or 2 extra lines from Ash. Just watch her dialogue on YouTube if you're that curious about it.

I'm an Ash fan, and I say no, not really. She has a few lines of dialogue and thats about it, nothing special.

Javik is worth getting ASAP

Except, I don't use assault rifles anymore. Just SMGs and Pistols. Want to keep the weight down plus have the power magnifiers. Also, I liked the Valkyrie an awful lot when I used it. Not sure I would ever go back.

You'll miss out on a ton of Javik content if you do in exchange for a line or two about Eden Prime from Ash/Kaidan so it's not really worth it.

Playing a Sentinel armed exclusively with the particle rifle. It's all kinds of win, and perfect for my Sentinel build. I can keep up constant fire as I lumber through the battlefield, tossing out warps, throws, lashes, overloads and tech armors as I go. A very different playstyle from my usual Infiltrators and Vanguards, I'm liking it.

This is exactly what I did in my third playthrough, but I used Defense Matrix as a bonus power instead of Lash. He was one of the most powerful Shepards I've ever built.

Defense Matrix and Tech Armor? Interesting. What's your adjusted power recharge rate? I chose Lash simply because it's a fun power to play with, especially when you are fighting near an abyss. Latching onto and tossing Centurions over an edge makes me giddy, and it reduces the Cronos Kai Leng fight to a ragdoll tossing contest.

I used Defense Matrix instead of Tech Armor actually, because I was very dependent of the quick shield recharge button. The only situations that I turned both on were when I needed to unleash sustained fire with the Particle Rifle, but that was after half of the game. About lash, I only used it in MP, because I don't have Omega.

Thanks for the link. Glad I didn't wait. Ash has almost nothing to say. You would think she would have more to say about losing the 212.

Kaidan's dialogue is actually pretty nice, it remembers Jenkins.

But Javik is a useful character. I would take him early on and YouTube Kaidan's comments. Ash's aren't really that interesting.

Full playthrough of Eden Prime with Ash. Besides the intro where she remembers fighting the geth, she also comments on the resilience of the Eden Prime population. She also jokes with Liara about having found a dinosaur in her excavations (this joke is shared with other squadmates, it's not unique to Ash). She also makes brief comments and has some banter during some key moments in the mission etc...

That is, unfortunately, very true. I've played through all of Javik's stuff multiple times, I'm gonna avoid youtube and just wait to bring her along this game-through. ME3 did better than the previous two with regards to dialogue with everyone, but still I could have used more in the romance department, especially with the romances that could be carried over from ME1. I know, I know, ME3's not a soap-opera but still...

I wait till I get Ashley back to go to Eden Prime.

The other reason I do this is if your ems is high enough, Javik gives different dialogue when back on the ship. He mentions to Shepard "you belleve you are winning"

Bringing EDI to Eden Prime does get a slightly different reaction from Javik when he wakes up - something like, "Human...asari...synthetic - this is not a good beginning." But I usually make Eden Prime my first stop after the Citadel (meaning EDI doesn't yet have a body) to avoid having too many missions piling up. Given how much trouble Cerberus caused on Mars, the danger they pose to the Eden Prime colonists, and the importance of all things prothean, I figure it's worth a stop before going to Palaven.

Not sure about ash, but i know it isn't worth it for kaiden. Heck, one of his lines is yet another one asking if liara found dinosaurs...

EDI does best at the dinosaur line. When Liara goes "You were joking," EDI responds, "No. Jokes have specific structures. That was messing with you."
