It's terrible. Not much more to it, really.

I don't hate MEHEM. I just hate being attacked by its fanboys for not wanting to have it myself

I have no idea what moves people to demand/create a new ending to... anything really.

If it sucks, it sucks, and I go play/do something else. If it's good, I'll play it again. I'll not loose a second of sleep over a bad ending, but some people on here make it sounds as if their life('s work) was destroyed.

Perhaps people like to play around with software and make things do different things and the ending provided some incentive to do it? Have you thought of that? Game modding is a creative activity. It engages the brain.

Because of this alternate ending I learned that I can write for 20 orchestral instrument parts. I didn't know I could. Now I know. And do a decent job of it.

So I'm so proud of you not losing a second of sleep or experiencing a moment of disappointment.

Nothing against MEHEM in itself.

If future games 'invalidate it', that's just the risk that goes along with it. As it is, I commend the creators for trying this. They learn new skills and and how to tackle problems in interesting ways.

I don't like MEHEM 'evangelizing', but I haven't noticed much myself.

Honestly I don't care if the future games invalidate it.

If future games invalidate it, I simply won't buy future games. Simple as that.

Unless future games are so AU that no ending is valid.

MEHEM invalidates Leviathan's DLC purpose of adding more lore behind the Catalyst's existence. On the other hand, the original endings still sucked, though EC added something to them that made them feel a little bit different. I don't like MEHEM, but I don't condemn it. People are free to use it, I think I prefer sticking to my headcanon that Shepard is still alive after the Destroy ending.

The problem with headcanon is that it feels like what I hope happens, which isn't the same as what actually happens (and since MEHEM isn't official I get a bit of the same feeling with it). Since that lore in particular is something I regard as a lost cause I'm not really bothered about its relevance vanishing (although aside from that I think that Leviathan is a pretty decent DLC).

I'm a lore freak but that's just me. I don't like how they retconned a bunch of stuff for the second game and the third game, but hey... Who am I to judge? MEHEM just doesn't fit with the current DLCs available. If it somehow added a Catalyst boss fight as an option or a successful refusal option, then I guess I would like it better. *shrugs* Like I said, I'm okay with people liking the mod, but it's not for me.

That is very interesting for me since I feel the same, just ... the other way round.

I really like Leviathan as a DLC. The story is interesting, the integration of the squad mates is very well done, it fits perfectly into the main game, it has an ample amount of content for the price and technically it's almost flawless. Yet, whenever I play it, I get this stale taste in my mouth because I have played the endings when the game was released and I just know that the main purpose of this DLC is to retroactively insert some patchwork that validates the existence of the star kid. I just cannot ignore that and believe me, I tried.
So yea, got exactly the same problem, just the other way. :)

Then why did you buy it?

As I said, I think it's actually a very good DLC. There is just that one issue (and I wasn't aware it would be so persistent by the time I bought it). Also, I needed the DLC to make MEHEM compatible with it. I actually bought it for that first. Only played it about 6 months later. :)
I don't regret buying it and I can still enjoy playing it. I just made that comment because it was striking to me how similar, yet different my perception is, compared to Teddie Sage"s.

One of the big problems with the original ending was the people had no reason the believe the Catalyst was telling the truth about anything. I believed it because I thought it had no reason to lie. With Leviathan we get more evidence that it is not just bald-faced lying about its purpose.

Indeed, Leviathan had some really good settings and levels.  And squad integration made it feel almost like part of the main game rather than a DLC (and in a good way)

But I don't care about the Catalyst, and I don't care about the lore behind it at all.  And coming from a lore-nerd, that's really saying something.

Since it doesn't do much beyond the Leviathans bragging about how they conceived it and what went wrong, I don't see much in the way of 'invalidation' going on by the 'intelligence' being left out of the loop.

ME3 never outright goes out of its way to establish Shepards as 'chosen ones' who must meet face to face with that thing. The only time something to that effect is done prior to the finale is at the end of Cronos station, Shepards being called 'avatar of this cycle' and all. And then, it still remains quite superficial indeed.

Thus, my verdict regarding that attempt at 'retroactive foreshadowing' being fun-facts to know about how the Reapers came to be. Not much else.

Wouldn't be a first I'd ignore a game series's follow-up titles based on the story going places I definitely don't like. Command & Conquer Tiberium-series after Tiberian Sun, Starcraft after Broodwar...

I'll agree with that. And I happen to be a MEHEM fan. It's good to let people enjoy the game the way they like; mods, EC, vanilla, smashing their computer after the ending, whatever.

Sweet mother of lol, people actually consider this good? I respect people for doing something constructive instead of just ****ing and moaning all the time, but damn. I'm speechless.

Matter of taste, but I think more effort went into it than what BW put into it.

From a content perspective, sure. A lot more going on in this. But it's... bad.

I don't think the ending can be addressed without redoing Priority Earth. The suckage begins there. Hell, even bleak endings would work better if Priority Earth was good.
