And no, the From Ashes DLC was in no way crucial to the plot, nor to the series as a whole. It was cool, but in no way "required".

- ME2 is one of my favourite games of all time
- ME3 was a huge misstep and I would do best just completely forgetting about all of it
- I don't need Shepard or any other trilogy character in the next game
- A completely different story from the obvious "save the galaxy... again" would be very welcome

I really don't mind day-1 or pre-order DLC, provided they make sure there are enough copies available to last for 2 weeks, so people won't miss out on day-1 DLC because the store ran out of its limited amount of copies before day-1 even started. It makes a nice gift for the people who were really hyped about the game in advance.

what? it had huge parts of the story in it.

How do I know Mac is not going to pull the same crap again in the next Mass Effect and juat throw me a huge artistic middle finger at the end?
Personally I would phrase it "Why should I trust you again?" But the meaning is the same.

Well... do you want more Mass Effect at all? If you don't just hate the universe forever after this, it seems like a chance that must be taken.iakus wrote...

I certainly don't, especially with the stuff that Mac is putting into it now.

I definitely wouldn't want to play a criminal as suggested by Mr Biscuit.

I do want more Mass Effect. It's a great setting with loads of potential. And I've been saying the nest game should be a tabula rasa for a while now.
But after ME3, I'm not sure I'm ready to trust again.

We don't even know if he'll be lead writer again. Also I'm pretty sure that while Mac was involved with the making of the ending, most of the blame goes to Casey.

Does that mean that Shepard will show up again to pull the rug out from under Bioware?iOnlySignIn wrote...
BioWare acts just like Udina (in ME1) towards Shepard.

BioWare is lying on the Presidium with a hole in its chest. Whether it will ever get up again remains to be seen.

Just don't buy it at release. Wait for reviews etc. and if it looks bad but still sort of interesting, get it when it's on sale for $10 or something.

Ten years ago, maybe. Today you can watch a full Youtube Let's Play before buying the game (hell, you could have watched a full ME3 play through before the game was even launched thanks to Bioware's space launch PR stunt). So no, you don't have to trust Bioware to benefit in the unlikely case that they make ME4 a good RPG.it seems like a chance that must be taken.
Based on the estimated 110% positive reviews you should have bought ME3, and would have been annoyed.Wait for reviews etc

You're telling me you're going to buy a product that is 75% of what it should be, then buy that other 25% just so you pay more for a complete product? Nevermind the fact that Javik was planned to be part of the game from the start as an actual core character in the "vanilla" game. There's no excuse for this practice no matter what figurehead or developer tries to bull**** us with some arbitrary reason. End of the day, it's a greedy ass money grab, and the person really being hurt is the consumer if they continue to support it. If this were a publisher like Rockstar, planned content like this would be free as they intended it to be part of the game during initial planning (see Outlaws To The End [RDR], Heists [GTAV]).
It ain't "day one" dlc. It's cut content dlc.

It's the cut content bit that's the issue. There's nothing particularly wrong in principle with being able to get a cheaper core, essential product and paying extra for some nice but non-essential addons, even on Day 1. But the prices and content both need to be appropriate for that, which is why From Ashes looks so bad.OniTYME wrote...

That's why I'll be looking at user reviews, not "professional" ones, and user reviews bombed the game, though not enough.

I'm willing to give it a look. What sorts of things are you concerned about?
this goes with what massively posted a few above you...i like characters, if i feel uneasy because those characters might get wiped like they did in me3 then why get invested in the first place. i stay away from wasps because ive been stung a few times, when i see another 1 i dont wait to get stung i just move away.
