Hi there, I've recently begun a new playthrough as a warrior tank and this time I'm taking Leliana as a full party member for the first time. Since I don't have any experience with a ranged character, I could use some advice on how to play her.

Most high-end bows have the "Rapid Aim" effect which I understand is the same thing as having the skill active. I'm curios if the weapon effect actually recieves speed increases from DEX like the skill does or is it a set percentage? Does it also prevent critical strikes?

Finally can you use "Aim" with the "Rapid Aim" effect?

Fro what i understand just use aim sustainable + archer mastery, and the gloves from RtO,
but here is everything you ever wanted to know about archery in dragon age,
written by a forum member that clearly has pounded the art of archery to the last letter

The 'Rapid Shot' ability and the 'Rapid Aim' property on equipments are not necessarily the same thing; for instance, it ranges from a bonus of -0.1s for the Scout's Bow to -3.0s for the Repeater Gloves. The bonus from 'Rapid Shot' is a fixed value of -3.0s and is independent of the player's DEX; likewise for 'Rapid Aim'. 'Rapid Aim' doesn't prevent critical hits. 'Aim' and 'Rapid Aim' stack together; boni from more than one 'Rapid Aim' item will also add up.

Oooo, that's nice! That's really nice!! Means I should stack as many rapid aim items as possible!

Confusing about the DEX-bonus, though. The "Detailed Tooltips"-mod even has a formula for it...

Yes, either stack various rapid aim stuff, or take the short-cut with Repeater Gloves
that are almost at the beginning of RtO, they dont hassle with 0.3 sec., no,
they cut down time a full 3 seconds.
It is not clear if it was meant that way or a typo, but given the power of other stuff in RtO,
Cailan's stuff, i think the repeater gloves are made like that intentionally

You're right, I overlooked it.

It's for this reason, among others, that I avoid DLCs - the items are always so hideously overpowered compared to everything else you can find in the game. So no Repeater Gloves for my Leliana. :)

Got a new question, just out of curiosity: Does Rapid Shot and Rapid Aim also reduce the +3.0s aim time for talents, or is it just autoshots?

I know there's a mod that reduces the aim time of talents to +1.5 - but as my char is struggling against Shattering Shot-users and remembering how devastating enemy Scattershots are later in the game I don't feel keen on installing it unless I'm playing an Archer myself.. ;)

Good point, many were complaining with the patch that made crushing prison obsolete,
(i was one, i havnt use it since)
but that patch also made crushing prison harmless when cast from darkspawn,
so the game actually became easier

No, they don't reduce set up time for activated talents.
