Im playing through the OCs with soz installed for the first time, and I find that I cannot identify items that I could on previous playthroughs(etc. the lathander sword, and zeearies armor).. Is this a bug, or does soz do anything to the lore skill?
Another question, my first cleric level is coming up and I have already decided on evasion (for my domains).
I am looking at slippery mind as my second domain feat, does it work against anything requiring a will save, or is it only the school of enchantment it works against(and traps?)?
Thanks to you guys who are answering my questions and are helping me out.
Soz and lore checks..

SOZ shouldn't have impacted the Lore skill, but it might have changed the level-up package your character class is using so the "recommended" button no longer puts skill points in Lore. On your next LU, check and be sure points are going into the skill. Also, are you sure your INT is as high as in the past?
I'm not sure about Slippery Mind, but I would guess it only works on Enchantment school spells.

Yes int is the same. Lore skill points is also the same as in the past. I always manually apply skill points. Normally they are instantly identified when I get them(the items mentioned). On this playthrough however, I cant identify them even though I put additional skill points into lore on later level ups..

I installed soz when I was level 7.. I doubt that is the cause of this though..

There was this ... Broken Lore?
If you had the same issue as rjshae, perhaps SOZ fixed it.
I've always had several items in the OC that most characters had to hand to Grobnar/Sand to ID, and the two you mentioned sound like they fit the bill.

Hmm, i have an int score of 14, and my lore skill is one point below max(13). I think I should be able to identify most things. Its no big problem of course, but you tell me, shouldnt I be able to identify those items?

Your total is 15 (13 +2 for INT). That should NOT be enough for the Sword, which is definitely worth over 13,000 gp. That armor probably is also, since it has three enchantments (though I always keep it for Shandra or Casavir, so I haven't looked at the price at any merchant).
That assumes the skill uses the same table as NWN1: Lore

Youre probably right then. It only costs 100 gold to identify the items at merchant shops anyway.
I had another question. Can I use the appraise skill with my companions? Neeshka should be able to get a higher appraise skill than me, and at a lower cost as well..

(In before Kaldor Silverwand)
No, not in the OC. SOZ added that option, but it didn't retrofit it to the OC.
HOWEVER, Kaldor's OC Makeover SoZ Edition adds that option plus much more.

The campaign helpfully gives you a few rings with lore in them. You don't even have to keep them equipped all the time, just keep them in the inventory of your best lore guy, equip when necessary, and you should be able to ID 99% of items without a merchant or a spell.
Throwing appraise at Neeshka only helps if you're playing with the OC Makeover SoZ Edition. That mod lets you use other characters than the main one for most conversations. Since it's the appraise of the char that triggers the store that gets checked, by default it's only ever useful to increase your main char's appraise in the OC.

If you really want the best possible price for items then remember you can increase your appraise with heroism, inspire competence, and raising your int. When making many/valuable transactions it might even be worth the cost to drink a potion of fox's cunning before starting.

If you give someone who can cast Identify (even if only from a scroll) the 'Craft Wand' feat, they can create a Wand of Identify with 50 charges for 2250 gold pieces. That's less than half the price of having merchants identify things for you (5000 gp). Then you can stop using precious spell slots to memorise Identify spells for a while, or sorcerors or bards can use up their spells per day casting something more useful.

Well, im going to take up to 6 appraise or something(had around that on my last playthrough). That will ensure Ill be having 500000 gold in my inventory anyway. Before rebuilding crossroad keep. And then you get taxes and all that. And you get new things to sell and so on. I was just wondering if lore was bugged.
