Completed ME2 ages ago but recently played ME1 for the first time (wrong way round I know), can I import my ME1 save to ME2 but still play ME2 NG+? Don't wanna start from scratch on ME2 again but want the import.

You can only do a NG+ with an ME2 character that has completed ME2. An ME1 character has obviously not completed ME2.

I have completed ME2, but didn't import save at the time cause hadn't played ME1, now I have completed ME1 I want to import save, will I have to start ME2 from level 1 in order to appreciate the import differences or can I start from my unlocked NG+

No.

You can start a new game with your ME1 import
OR
You can start a new game with your previously-completed ME2 character (NG+).

If you want to play NG+ with your import, you need to play a new game with your ME1 import, then play NG+ with that completed playthrough.

You also wont start at level one with your ME1 import. You'll gain bonuses depending on the level of the character you are importing.

From the Mass Effect wiki http://masseffect.wi..._File_Transfer.

Character Transfer

Character Stats and Levels

Due to several gameplay changes, your character's level and abilities will not transfer over to Mass Effect 2. However, the game will acknowledge your character's level and morality and adapt it in ways that map across to the new system as well. The higher the level of the imported character, the greater the bonuses granted upon importing.

A portion of the character's Paragon/Renegade points (up to 190 each, which requires the bar(s) to be 50% full[1]) are transferred over.

Importing a level 1 through level 49 character will grant 1,000 XP (the player starts at level 2), 20,000 credits, and 2,500 of each resource.

Importing a level 50 through level 59 character will grant 2,000 XP (the player starts at level 3), 30,000 credits, and 5,000 of each resource.

Importing a level 60 character will grant 4,000 XP (the player starts at level 5), 50,000 credits, and 10,000 of each resource.

Having the "Rich" achievement from Mass Effect will grant an additional 100,000 credits.

The import bonuses will stack with the Mass Effect 2 completion starting bonuses (200,000 credits and 50,000 of each resource).

So you wont start at level one and because you've completed ME2 once before, you'll get bonuses for that too.

You will probably not start at level 1. Level 50-59 ME1 characters start ME2 at level 3. I believe level 40-49 characters start at level 2. Also, since you have completed ME2 once you will receive a number of starting bonuses in resources and credits. And if your ME1 character is defined as "rich" you will receive another bonus in credits.

Edit: Wow, talk about ninja!

Also if you don't mind messing around with your save files a bit you could mod them to boost your level, ability points and resources.

Here is a thread telling you how to do it http://social.biowar...8/index/2277020.

Word of warning though. Don't do anything while modding that could unlock an achievement, that could bring the wrath of Microsoft down on you.
