IMO the Hammerhead is probably just one of many vehicles we can acquire and I expect, like Armour or Weapons, Bioware is giving us a choice and expanding that variety with DLC. I have seen nothing that indicates Hammerhead, Cerberus Armour and the M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun will be free. Why would they be free? EA/Bioware likes making money, we want there content. Wow look at that, Supply and Demand. :P

Doesn't say it will be paid for either. I say, wait it out 7 more days and see what happens.

that would be pretty sweet to plow right over sum geth in that sucker... but its supposed to be a hover tank...

"the Hammerhead, a new vehicle in the Mass

Effect universe. This agile hover tank features improved handling on

rough terrain and maneuvers deftly in combat" - straight from the post on the Cerberus content details.

I looked at the Mako rather like another mini-game. With the rxception of level 2 hazard Planets you truly did not NEED the Mako but ....... Noveria, Feros, and Vermire all had extensive areas that would have taken much longer to travel without it and there would be NO WAY to beat the Conduit Timer without Mako.

Now Drop-ship in ME2 'appears' to make much of the exploration driving unneeded but it isquite likely that there will be cases where Hammerhead will make things faster/easier without being 'essential'.

My Only true gripe with Mako was that it drove the same on all planets, and I could have sworn at least some of them had Gravity that was either higher or Lower than norm (example: Our own moon, or Asteriod X57).

Traditionally where content is available to 'Add-on' it comes in two flavors 1.) Community Built (generally free) and 2.) Company Built (cost variable but seldom free). Interpret the Press release any way you please until a developer posts a definite answer or the game releases but I for one will operate on the assumption that only the first "Launch" DLC will be available 'at no cost' with Cerebus Network Access.

What is known is Bioware and EA have done a very fine job of running a marketing campaign of a whole lot of misinformation and no information.

I believe if the Hammerhead isn't free, then it will probably be free a year after release. But then in the meantime, when you land on a planet, what do you travel in?

The Kodiak drop ship

But according to OXM, the Kodiak is non-pilotable. So I guess we're gonna be walking around a lot on planets. Unless we get some points and buy the Hammerhead. I have 500 points being used on ME 2 just in case.

OXM said there WERE NO pilotable vehicles in the game (never mentioned the Hammerhead).  They obviously did not HAVE the DLC and were not aware of it at the time the review was written....over a month ago to get it in a print mag that's been out for more than a week.   You don't know that it's going to cost anything and Bioware's DLC won't take MS points anyway (they have their own EA points...).

I want nothing to do with EA points. MS points are bad enough.

I'm glad to see that they fixed Ms Christina Norman's account to the way it should be when she posts

judging by the way they state all "release day" DLC will be free, and this is after release day, I highly doubt this will be free.

Actually the Hammerhead is the only drivable vehicle, a german online magazine stated that they have not seen a drivable vehicle in their playthrough (for which they spent 35 hours while not completing many of the sidequests)
http://www.4players....808/grafik.html
I'll translate the first sentences:
"We've been surprised at one thing during our first playthrough: up to this point we have not seen any vehicle in Mass Effect 2. According to Electronic Arts, there will be another free download packet that will be released after the already announced DLC, which will include a vehicle."

the original text by 4Players:
Wir haben uns beim ersten Durchspielen schon gewundert: Bisher haben wir kein Fahrzeug in Mass Effect 2 Image IPB entdeckt. Wie Electronic Arts jetzt mitteilt, wird es nach dem ersten bereits angekündigten Download-Paket (enthält u.a. den Söldner Zaeed - hier im Bild), das zum Start erscheint, ein weiteres kostenloses Paket geben, das ein Fahrzeug enthält.

As stated by Christina Norman no one has the official word on if its Free DLC or Paid DLC so until they release a statement its up in the air and could very well be free or pay. Everything is just speculation or conjecture at this point.

I believe it will be free but that is of course just my opinion.

seriously Hammerhead DLC anouncment created only confusion, would be great if we get some proper information from Chris, not just a bunch of links to other sources

If you listened to the podcast that came on today, the topic was discussed and this is what Greg Zeschuk basically said.

1st day DLC is free
Everything afterwords will have some free stuff but also stuff you have to buy.

Damn. That makes me unhappy. I suppose they might do it fairly ... but I'm not terribly optimistic about this new DLC direction Bioware is touting. Here's hoping they don't overcharge for small updates and missions.
